so i found out how those idiots broke into my car

and its official....the 02-03 lancer is probably the easiest car to kill an alarm on or loose any engine goodies....or just get your engine wrecked..... i wish i had a digi cam to post pics but i dont. anyways on the stock front bumper in the middle there is plastic diamond mesh.....all you need to do with that is take a wire cutter, cut a hole big enough to fit your hand through, reach up inside, and pop the hood.......now if you have an alarm someone will be waiting on the battery side with a wire cutter to snip your negative battery terminal so your alarm dies........but from there it looked like it was all smooth sailing.......im telling you guys this so what happened to my car dosent happen to yours so try to think of something to protect your latch and if anyone has a great idea then post it up.....

back in the day when i was into VW's i had a backupsiren that had its own power that was in a tough spot to get along with putting the Pin switch for the Hood in the rear instead of the front, which when pulling on the hood latch wire they would scan for pin switches and hold them down and then snip the power, well it saved my car one night thieves tried to pop my emblem off brought my hood up and my alarm goes blazing saved my car. Mind it this was over 9 years ago but having a backup self powered siren should save ya.

That's why you use backup batteries for the alarm.

backup battery and a grounding kit would have prevented it from not going off
