so i tore ,my dash appart to run a new rca cable from my deck to my amp in the trunk. ripped up the plastics on the driver side door frame and such to get to the back set and then into the trunk. somewhere along the lines my a/c knob lights went out when i turn my headlights on....but the defroster light still works when its engaged, as well as the other 2 buttons. .....jsut not lit up when i haev the lights on (hope that makes sense). also - my right rear tail light is out - this happened at the same time....and the brake light works still when i push the pedal. so i know its not a fuze - otherwise both tail lights would be out....anybody have any ideas of how i can diagnose this? thanks

for your a/c control its a fuse...check under the dash for what fuse...and for your tail light...its your bulb

 

yeah definitely the bulb on the taillight i had that same problem b4, i kept checking the fuse thikin that had to b the prob, but it took me a lil bit to think about lookin at the bulb...u blew one of the two filaments inside the bulb.

why would a fuze and the bulb go out at the same time when i was wiring stuff? thats weird

that is incorrect, if your drivers side tail light fuse goes, so does the entire drivers side, the passanger side is on a different fuse...

 

Probably a a bulb for the taillight and definatly a fuse or lightbulb for the hvac controls..

 

its your fuse chief, check the box in the engine bay for a 7.5a one. Just fixed this same problem a week ago: no passenger's side tail lamp (even replaced the bulb to be sure) and the hvac and shifter lights were out too. once the fuse was replaced, bam! problem fixed.

 

I had this happen when I had my truck one time. I was doing some rewiring and my headlight just went out. Replaced it and all back to normal.
