Cleaning your car
Ok before i go to a detaling shop to do this i would like to see if ne1 else has experience this. Well i got to work and i my parking spot is under a tree a pine tree to be exact and recently i found tree sap stuck to my hood like 15 spots about the size of a nickle. I was able to take out the thick sap but it looks like the sun burned in some to the paint i would like to know if you guys know of something to take this stuff off taht wont hurt the car or the window(i got some there too.) Thanks
The oil in the Pine sap will burn thru your paint and clear coat. The best defense would have been a well waxed car. You can try Goo Gone as mentioned above or a light swirl remover. Use one formulated to remove over-spray and fine scratches. It must have a light abrasive in order to remove the damaged areas. If it does come out follow up with a good coat of wax. Its hard to tell with out seeing the car if it will come out or not.
I've had this happen to me. My apartment complex is called PINE Harbour, you figure it out. No matter where I park, there's a large pine tree nearby, or it's branches extend out.
The best advice is clean off the sap as soon as you see it. I just came in from cleaning about seven sap spots. The ones that were still clear came up no problem, the older ones which hardened over however left a slight discolorization on the hood.
I'm still worried that Goo Gone will damage the paint as the area around the spot which I applied the Goo Gone too is also slightly discolored. I plan to wash and wax my car today, and hoping the soap, water, a good scrub and wax will rid that.
On the bright side, I seriously want a carbon fiber hood anyway. I'm just concerned the same will happen to it. It's obvious I need to park in a different spot and be more watchful for sap once I get the hood.

^ Use a clay bar, just be carefull! If you've never used a clay bar before, be carefull! Make sure you don't get ANY I mean any dirt on the clay bar, otherwise you will scartch the car! If you drop it on the ground, throw it out! Clay bar has always worked for me for taking off anything on the paint, pine sap being one of them!
I was only able to wash my Lancer, not wax. At night parked under a street lamp I could really see the discolorization from the sap and more apparently from the Goo Gone. Looks kind of bad. Definately need to never let sap sit for very long again. At this point I doubt I can fix it now. Might as well start saving up for a CF hood. Hopefully Goo Gone won't **** up CF.
Here, try this... Turtle Wax Bug & Tar and Tree Sap Remover. It works wonders on everything I used it on...caked on bugs from 2 weeks ago, hard to remove tar from road construction, etc. It's only a couple $$ and worth every penny. Comes in a 16oz can and can be found at places like Pepboys on the bottom shelf. Good luck...
ahhh so many things to try i think i will get a clay bar ive heard of that and if that doesnt work some simple green and if that doesnt work turtle wax and if that doesnt work detailing shop. UHhh so much money to spend
