Well, there is a "how-to" but I plan to include pics and more detailed instructions on "how-to". The kind of "how-to" as to where there ar no big words and mechanical terms. If there is one on RRM I did not see it but I did look. Chance I missed it maybe?...what link did you see it under?

anything besdie the stockbox is HAI = Hot Air Intake. how can it be CAI when it sucking in air from your engine bay??
SRI - Inside engine bay
CAI - Reaches outside the engine bay to pull in air from atmosphere.

The 5 Speed Lancers can have either because the transmission on the Auto gets in the way of any standard tubing, FYI in case anyone didn't know the difference.

I bought a MAF adapter off of Ebay because I got a free cone filter from a friend. The adapter ended up costing about $10, is ABS plastic, and goes between your MAF sensor and your cone...it bolts directly to the MAF. Problem is, the stock air box is attached to the MAF and it is a pain to take off unless you have an air ratchet or impact gun. I put everything together, and as usual, expected very little and that's what I got. I have a BIT more power after 35MPH and slightly (2MPG) better gas mileage. This also confirms the standard theory that they might add 5HP, but they only add MAYBE 1 or 2 LB/FT of torque, which is what you notice right away.

I had my uncle around to give me advice since he works on his "Vette" alot
Nice car...what year? Problem is, bet your uncle doesn't have half of the wires and sensors your car does...

I used an air gun mainly because thats what I had in our speed shop had it and had vice grips. The bolt, being an odd-shaped head, shredded two of the four plastic guards on the insidd of the stock air box. So, I used vice grips to hold the bolt head and the air gun to slowly back the nut off...the other two came off easily.

Like I said...it was all free so I did it. Had I not gotten the filter for free I would have left the stock one on, the car is a dog and isn't worth dumping a ton of money into. I am buying a new car come March anyway...

Now I don't feel so stupid...I used elbow grease...a lot...and it shredded them. That's when I packed the heavy artillery, and no, I don't use air guns in the place of my hands when I can use my hands just as well, just ask my girlfriend, I mean, oops. Sorry, I love throwing random jokes in.
