HELP! on headlight blacking out on a 04
despite the fact that my left arm is broken, i went on and took off the bumper and headlights with only my right arm today.... since i cant drive my car for another 2 weeks, i've decided to black out the headlights (or any other suggestions since i've already taken the bumper off!?)
Questions:
1) well i've taken all the light bulbs out but then i still see like metal pieces on the headlights, do i have to take them out so they wont get burned in the oven?
2)will my headlights be mis-aligned after the black out process?
3)should i wait for the paint to dry before putting the lense and all back together?
4)do most people use flat black or gloss black paint? or any other suggestions?
5) how many bottles of primer and paint do i need for both headlights? assuming that i do 3 coats on each light
sorry for having so many questions. i'm really excited as this will improve the look on my ES so much! THANKS GUYS!
imma include some pics of the front of my car right now~

go to my myspace and click car accident.....
i've read 2 DIY threads on blacking out headlights, the one for evo said to prehead oven to 220F and cook for 15-20 mins, but the other one for 02 lancer says to prehead to 270F and cook for 5-10mins...which one do i use? since theres none for 04 lancers!?

damn, i dont say this often, but, nice bone! i accidentally broke my freinds collar bone once. got into a little scuffle. a leg was dropped, but cook it about 5-10, and check local laws on where you can and cant blackout. i think i rember someone blacking out their reflector bowls or something, and the fuzz had issues with it.

ok, yes i think its only on light colored cars that come in black cause my silver OZ has black headlights. on cooking time, i think theyre both the same, just a shorter time at higher temp, and longer for a lower temp. and on taking all the metal out, I'd say do whatever the 03 lancer directions say. but while youre doing this, take out and leave out the amber lenses. and cops can't have a problem with headlight housing color. as long as you don't paint the lense of the headlight. or go the easy way and trade someone with black headlights, cause they would match the ralliart altezza tails better.

wait, did the cover thing come off that silver part so you can paint it? yes i believe you can take off the amber lenses, but i think it has to be an amber bulb or has to light up in amber. But i'm sure you can get by with white or light blue, just not red, or green or anything. don't know about how much paint you need, you'd have to find someone who's done this already and i havent read of anyone who has. you should contact evodave cause he does this for all cars lights. so i'm sure he could tell you (long as you don't steal his business).
