.20 Pistons
I m tempted to buy pistons from buschur. but i m concerned, I dont know how to install it and i prefer to install it when i have IM, headers, fuel rail, TB, rods all installed together.
Is it good idea for me to buy it and leave it sitting?
I have seen two guys here saying they make their motor sounds like tractor. that isnt good... advices please

it wont last long. i need good advices. is it good idea to get them and have them sit around for a while?
if i end up not needing them, i could sell them for more? my car has only 13k miles on it
it ll take a while until i get everything i need

K I'll see if I can make you a little list,
1. Are you happy with the performance of your car right now?
2. Do you plan on a turbo in the future?
3. Are you cheap (ie do you install everything yourself even if you don't really know what you're doing simply to avoid paying an install fee)?
If you answer no to all these questions pistons may be a good idea for you. It all comes down to whether you want/need pistons, the later applied to me so I got a set of higher compression pistons as something of a bonus.

if i got turbo, is it compatiable with those pistons?
mike
Yes and no, they are forged so they're very strong, but as a general rule turbos prefer lower compression. If you replaced the rods as well you'd should be fine, but anothers 800$. Best bet would be to get the pistons, see how you like em, and if you decide to go turbo possibly pick up a set of stock pistons from a part out and sell the buschur pistons.

what worries me is that you mentined that they made ur motor sound like tractor???
that doesnt really make me feel good about having those pistons
how much gains would i get from them?

I asked my mechanic about the over bore pistons and he said the block would have to be machined to fit these pistons.
Is there anyone around that has installed the .20 overbore pistons? Most guys I have seen with installed pistons bought the stock bore.

wouldnt boring the block even more be a bad thing.....I remember reading somewhere a long time back that our engines were originally the mirage 1.8L and Mitsu bored them out to a 2.0L.
Thus giving us fairly thin cylinder walls (that cannot hold much boost, so this would be a really bad idea to try and slap a turbo on with)....wouldnt this just make them even thinner, possibly causing more problems....
Please disregard entire statement if I am completely wrong, just throwing out what I've heard.

you can bore them (I think some one else would know better), but yea the walls are thin, just make sure the shop you take them to is good, real good and if it worrys you you can get it sleaved ( the inserts you press into the block generally of a stronger strength metal than the pot metal that blocs are made of) but this is genrally more expensive but is good in high horse power applications
I just got my car back from the shop, I'm running these exact pistons. Give me a week to ten days and I'll be past the break in period and I should be able to give you a decent review.
Ha basically everything. I'll start from the top, new sensor, new spark plugs, 4 new valves, new pistons, new rings, new bearings, and the block had to be bored out. Currently I'm at like a 2.1 liter engine.
