Idling funny, help!

i have a 2003 lancer oz rally with 23,000 miles, the only mods are header and intake. i had to unhook the battery today. after having the battery unhooked for around 15min i took for a drive. it idled fine fo the first few minutes and then it wouldn't idle above 500rpm. should i put the stock header back on and take it too the dealer. or sould i try to unhook the battery again. PLEASA HELP.

try unhooking the battery again for a bit and then hook it up and let the car idle for 15 mins so the MAS can adjust properly.

When u mod ur Lancer.....Unhook battery for 15min. Hook it back up, Let car idle for 15min. then drive it normal (below 4000rpm) for 15min. then u should be good.

Nit-picking is fun ain't it? The POINT is to let it idle after reconnecting the battery.

see thats the thing about mitsus ... ecu gets reset everytime you disconnect the battery and the ecu controls the idle so everyone thinks its messed up when they disconnect the battery and drive right away ... itll be fine after a few miles like everyone said

Please avoid generic titles. [broken record] Almost any thread in this forum could be titled "Help!!!" but they would be about all different topics [/broken record] I edited this one for you. Thanks

This is called relearning. The RAM, similar to a home computer, erases itself when the battery is disconnected. All of your shift points, air/fuel mixtures, etc are stored here. All it takes is a little driving for the computer to relearn all of the things it forgot.

see thats the thing about mitsus
EVERY car goes through a relearn, some just do it faster than others.

one thing you can do if you are reseting your ECU.

after you have let it learn your idle, you then teach it shift points. this worked on mine (auto). go to a looooong stretch and completly stop. put in in 1st or low. floor it and shift up right before 6000 (because of delay). continue until you reach drive.
1st---->2nd----------->3rd-------------->drive

now when you are in drive, your car will shift at 6000 to 6250 instead of 5000 to 5500!

this will give you a little more get-up-and-go
