With the winter season here and me having the tendency to baby my car I was looking into this A cold block heater
Is something like this necessary or is it just some thing that is a waste of money and is not going to do much?
By the way where in the world would it mount and how would it protect my engine?

i have something similar on my outback.....you basically plug this heater into an extension cord or wall outlet and it keeps the engine warm. This way when you go to start up the car on a super cold morning the engine's already warmed up like it's been run already.
Basically it allows for a much smoother and responsive start on really cold days

If I was you guys, I wouldn't worry about a block heater... My lancer has never fail to start... even in a week of -20C ( -4F ) ... even when I went back east to my home town.. it was -30C (-22F ) during my xmas vacation... she started like a champ
