let paint dry for roughly half an hour between coats and 2-3 hours before touching it. hell id be safe and let it sit for 4-5 hours personally.

A word to the wise...don't attempt this mod when there is dust or other debris around.

After I sprayed the grill on my gallery little bits of dust or whatever stuck to it while the coats were drying. There are a few small uneven areas because of this but overall the grill should look good when finished. I've been working on it off and on since 9 am this morning when I went down to take it out. It's 5:40 pm

I'm going to apply one last clear coat and let it dry over night before installing.

I sprayed at least 2 coats of primer, 3 coats of black and this will be the 4th clear coat I think.

I left a some spray in each can incase I want to do it over again depending on how this comes out. I may not have used Sandpaper that was rough enough to help with proper paint adhesion.

Time will tell.

Will try to post a pic tomorrow of the finished product.

if you have some 800 grti or even a lil higher, use that to knock off the dust, then hit it w/ the clear again, but dont sand to much and go though the clear thats on it already

I guess I put too much on.

Guess I'll be doing it again.

First - Tack coat (meaning don't make a full wet coat), this is done to make the rest of the coat stick better.
2nd - Full wet coat
3rd - Optional coat.

I'm done spraying for the night...In an hour or so I am going to bring it inside so the dew will not keep it moist all night.

We'll see what happens by morning.

Ok Here's a bunch of pics of the end product.

If anyone attempts to do this you only need a 10mm socket and a phllips screw driver besides the paint materials.

I may end up doing it over but I put it on the car to bake a little more in the sun. Not bad for my second completely DIY mod.

I need to get rid of those orange reflectors now.

Oh and I painted only the outside silver part of the grill. I had seen where someone else did not paint the fins so I didn't either.

that looks pretty good. I'm more of a fan of the flat black on it myself, so that's how I did mine and took off the mitsu emblem and painted it red.

there's others on the forum that color matched it to their car and it looks pretty nice.
