True, but a new one would read incorrectly as well. So it wouldn't matter if he bought a new mph one or a km one. Either way, he would still have to manually correct the mileage on any documents. That's why pink slips allow a manual correction, because if a car had to replace any of that equipment, the odo would read incorrectly anyway... well, that and because of the stupid older cars that only have 5 digits in their odo (that's why I've seen a rusty old '69 Camaro with "5,000" miles on it)

I know for sure that J-spec vehicles don't show MPH on their gauges, due to the fact that my friend has a JDM J-spec RX-7. He just got it so i don't know about the Inspection nonsense...

The Canadian Gauge does show both KM/H and MPH. The KM/H are dominant as you said. But all that for what? The JDM yo look? Common now

You can use KM/h gauges in the states.. at least Michigan I know you can. Nobody even cares. There's no car inspections or anything. Heck, you can run without gauges.. lol. When I took my gauge cluster out of my car to put the Carbon Fiber overlay on, I took my car around the block with the gauge cluster completely out of the car. I did it because my friend did it in his civic and he wanted to see if it worked in mine too.. lol.

You can only use the guages if they have MPH written on them somewhere.

no wait

You can only LEGALLY use the guages if they have MPH written on them somewhere.

In reality use whatever guages you want. Take the risk of being caught. It's the same with swapping out an airbag equipped steering wheel for an aftermarket non-airbag steering wheel.

If you get caught, you're screwed, if not all power to you.

Quick question: what's the real point in swapping out the guages from a canadian cluster? If you want to keep the computer in MPH, just take the guage faces off the canadian one and stick em in your USDM lancer it should work.

p.s. you'd have to buy a US OZ cluster and then swap out the guage faces.

He'd probably buy the gauges from a canadian OZ lancer, not an ES. I don't believe you can switch just the gauge faces. They wouldn't even be JDM, the JDM ones don't seem to have MPH on them at all, look at the gauges in the link they're different from what we got up here in Canadaland.

I know the JDM ones are different from the Canadian ones but it's a little illegal to run guages without the MPH on them here in the states. That's my point.

Yeah. I'm just saying its meaningless to only go half way. If you want to claim to be "JDM" you have to actually have JDM stuff, not canadian equipment.

I want to get rid of both mp/h and km/h, and just have a turtle on one end, and a rabbit on the other.

i'm pretty sure you can't use the gauge in PA. do they still have yearly inspections? i hated that ****, having to shell out ~100 dollars and leaving my car overnight for emisions stickers was GAY.

when I moved to WA, the emissions took like 2 minutes and costs 15 bucks

negative.. in michigan I know people who have classic cars with only a tachometer and no gauge for speed.. its not necessary to need a speedometer to be legal in all states. Some states don't care, as long as you're going the speed limit.
