performance belts???
hey guys, this makes me sound like a n00b, but i have a friend who works with our local warehouse NAPA, and he told me he could get me performance belts for my alternator, timing belt, etc. Anyways i had no clue that there were such a thing. Whats the purpose? Is it stronger, longer lasting, does it really help out in performance??? ::::shrugs::::
They don't actually last longer.
The STI ones for Subarus are supposed to be replaced at the usual interval.
They're stronger, so your 300whp monster doesn't snap a belt.
So since your Lancer is putting down about 100whp, it's a waste. But they're free, so it's all cool.

They are the Hyoshi Performance Belts. Click here to check them out. Yes they are pricey.
Also, stay away from Goodyear Belts. I replaced the stock ones with Goodyear belts, and after 6 months, the alternator belt is still good but the p.s. and a/c belt needs to be replaced. It was intalled correctly, but it stretched. I have tightened it twice now and I need to replace it because I am afraid to tighten it a third time.
