Well i go to school in wisconsin and i guess it snows there a lot. So today i was going literally 3-5mph and all the sudden the car goes into a skid towards the curb and i try to angle it to minimize damage (it was only a curb) but the front left wheel hits the curb and it's kinda loud but not too bad. I checked it out, seemed like the wheel got moved a bit back in the wheel well but i limped it to the meineke across the street to get it checked and it wasn't driving too well. so they put it up and i looks like i bent the lower left control arm for the wheel. thus getting charged 300 dollars for the part and 200 for installation and allignment. the installation and allignment didn't sound too bad but 300 dollars for the part! so i can't pay it i don't think, and my family just recently had an economic downfall (past few days) so my life sucks and i may need to sell the lancer. i also noticed the front left break didn't seem to be working so that could be a lot more but if anything the rotors maybe got knocked off track or something i dunno. and this was on the eve of lots of installs so i may be parting out soon (damn why did i order those shifter bushings and exhaust hangers last night). any suggestions? pity? advice? can i do the fix cheaper??? i don't have much of a choice cause the car is 20 miles away and they are gonna charge me storage fee if i don't fix it soon, so i don't have time to order some amazingly cheap part online only to have it take so long to get here that i loose more money anyway. thanks guys
basically i would have to sell the car cause monthly payments plus this cost plus parking cost per month would make my car too expensive for me to own. and i know you are all going to flame me for trying to mod a car on a tight budget but i wasn't planning on having george bush try to put my dad out of job so i lost anything to fall back on so please. i have a good job and work, and without this accident everything would have been a'ok.

hmmmmm, seems to me like 300 is a little much for a control arm (im not really sure). Winter sucks eh!?! I say if you find a way to fix your problem invest in some nice studded snow tires so mabey you wont slide as much next time..........Unless you allready have them.
I was thinking about doing the insurance thing, but i don't know much about it considering the car is done under my dad's insurance and i don't know much about insurance anyway. Basically i'm afraid of reporting it and then having my insurance go way up and then having any type of car out of the picture. thats why i'm asking cause i just have never done this before and your suggestion might be a good one. i was thinking though if i sell it, i could just about pay it off and still have money to get a 5 or 6 your old dsm with decent mileage and 6 cylinder engine to play with in the future. it is probably a more appropriate car for a 20 year old college student anyways. i love my lancer though. thanks for the help so far guys
can you get to a junkyard to try and find a salvagable control arm? I have never installed one myself but someone here should be able to show you how to do it.
If not insurance sounds like the way to go.. your rates wont change all that much but, if you have a high deductible then it wouldnt be worth it.

all good ideas. just don't have time to go to the junkyard and i don't want to have my car towed back to my apartment. i dunno, i might be able to pay this off if i sell some mods. but if i were to sell it would be that the car is already becoming unaffordable and this is just the icing on the cake. if i do part out here is what is available (although it is way too soon to tell whats gonna happen):
-RRM cai
-RRM short ram
-BM shortshifter (new in box) with new kartboy base and linkage bushings
-New never been used RRM axleback with new kartboy exhaust hangers
-Accolade mesh grille with RRM badge (again, new)
-RRM crank pulley (new, never been used)
-04' thunder grey OZ with just a shade under 14,000 on it. no accidents except this minor one. otherwise in literally like new condition. with JVC headunit
thanks again for the help

alrighty looks like i may have come into some money to pay the damages and got a nice pay check. so as of now i can keep the car! anyone still want the RRM cold air intake though?
Wow... I was thinking about driving to la crosse that day and I'm glad we didn't. That storm was just ridiculous, no one should have been driving in it. Studded tires are illegal here btw...the best thing would have been to not drive but it did take me 2.5hours to go from milwaukee to waukesha(about 30miles).
Yeah winter accidents blow - i just hadda replace my engine (hydrolocked in a small flood) with my 1k tax return
, which i was planning on using for my T-28 .. life goes on, but keep your car!!! trust me howd u feel with grandmas 93 ford escort?
