Evolution 7 Production Cars

Today I got to know that the motor racing governing body won't let my buddy race his spankin new Evo VII RS in this months track races as they have a rule saying that still Mitsu has not sold 2500 units, hence car cannot be track raced.

Does any of our lancerforum members in Japan know how many Evo 7 units have been sold so far (all over the world)? or is there any way to findout the official number that went into production upto this date?

Thanks

D.

I was really looking forward to seeing the seventh heaven in action but this news came as a shock..

I'm sure that Mitsu have have already sold more than 2500 cars. Contact Mitsubishi directly, or better yet, Ralliart in Japan.

I'm sorry to say but I don't think they have sold 2500 yet

I believe that there were 1100 GSR's made on the first production run and that there were 250 RHD RS's. Then there are some LHD RS's. How many are needed for Grp n homologation? because that has been done?

The above figures shouoldn't be taken as absolute, but I don't think they are that far off. As Michael says, Ralliart Japan is probably your best bet. Good luck

I thought Gr. N homologation needs 2500... might be wrong.

Mitsu ha sold WAAAAAAY more than 2500!! I think you are looking at more than double that for worldwide sales! Come on ...do you really think they have sold less than 2500 in over a year of production??? I they sold around 1000 in the first month!!

Do you know contact details of Mits Sales Division in Jap or would you be able to find any OFFICIAL press release or some kinda document that says their sales numbers?

PS: I am pretty confident myself that the 2500 barrier is already broken but we need some kinda official document from Mits that we can use to take the race organizers to courts incase if they don't let us race the VII this month.

RalliArt NZ confirmed that over 5000 VII's have gone into prouction:

"As of March 2001, 5800 Evo 7 Lancers had been produced. Since then, several more "builds" have been done, but we have no figures for these"

Definitely more than 2500 sold. In tiny Singapore (which is at most the size of DC) there are more than 100 registered... it's not uncommon to see two or more on the road in a single workday.
