Wouldn't this be a better option?
I read the guides on the difference between Short rams and Cold air intakes and let it perculate in my head for a while and came to this conclusion...
If one were to get a Short Ram with an Evo 7 style hood with the air vent wouldn't that be a better option to go with for intake instead of a CAI?
Im seeing this, If a person gets higher torque with a CAI because of access to cooler air (because its right there by the "cooler" air) but lower high end torque because of the long pipe and a SRI gets lower low end torque because it taking in "warmer" air but higher high end because its getting lots of air. So if a person puts some vents on their hood (Like the Evo) wouldn't that drastically prevent bogging and give you the best of both intakes?
People tent to go with the "Evo 7" look so why not get a SRI instead?

Yeay, of course. Somebody could just fabricate one out of some thin aluminum or some thing, stick it up when it rains and keep it in the trunk when it doesn't.

And to the original poster... The Evo hood is design to get hot air OUT, not to get cold air in.

or drive around w/ no hood best of both worlds lets all the hot air out/ cold air in
lightens the car, free wash for ur motor every time it rains and in the event of a crash u wont damage ur hood

well, as far as the weather thing... We talked about that already.. Here and in show and shine, or maybe it was engine tech and show and shine. I just installed my SRI on my 05 es today. I got the little 39.99 evo vent from RRM. Haven't installed the vent yet, but in asking the question earlier we decided between the oiled filter and the water repellant cover I got from parts.com (originally developed for 4x4s) rain is not an issue. I'm a little confused now, that perheps my air vent is for letting air out and not in, but I'll just flip that b8888 around! BTW. If I could switch my air vents using RRM's instructions (which I found much more helpful than the how to here) Then anyone can do it. Sheesh I can barely change my oil. It was easy. Not to best fit, I may have to play with it a little more tomorrow, but I was 'sick' today. There's really only one place the 'L' bar can attach to, so I'm not sure why so many people had problems with that .... (maybe they couldn't find the ground wire side... who knows). I also have to say the improvement was slightly more than expected. I took it for a quick little drive around the neighborhood first and was really happy with the bit of torque I got, not untill later did I feel the higher end kick in. it was like an added bonus. Now, the headers, exhaust, rims, piggyback . . .
i dont wanna start a new subject but i just wanted to know, does ne one where i can find the thread titled "the thread to end all questions on intakes? something like that, it was a sticky .. sorry i just didnt wanna start a new thread.
