what happened

What happened to all the people that were saying to the lancer owners that they should of waited for the evo. Cause if u buy a lancer and put $10,000 in it then you got your self an evo. when in fact now that still seems to be true but you still have about 8,000-10,000 dollars in your pocket. ?????????/

Umm... How much can you get an AWD drivetrain for? And how much do you think it'll cost to forge the internals of our Lancer engine to withstand the amount of boost it would take to compete hp-wise with the 8?

with the money you can make anything possible, but why go through all of the trouble making an evo equivalant when you've got em in the U.S.? If i had 30k to either get a lancer and 15k to work on the car, i'd get the evo...If i could get the lancer and 15k in my pocket....id pocket the cash and do some mods to make the lancer tolerable

you can't build an evo out of a lancer for comparable price unless you got some major hookups. the amount of money you'd spend to make a lancer into an "evo", you could buy an evo and still have money left over to hook it up further. the evo is a better deal.

i ****ing HATE when people ask me "oh what kind of car do you have?" "a mitsubishi lancer" "oh....you shoulda waited for the evo man..." yeah. because in 8 months $12,000 would have mysteriously appeared in my pocket. using that argument, instead of buying a lancer i should have bought a ferrari. i mean the ferrari is better.....

I love my lancer ES and I like the EVO but to be honest if I had 30k I would more than likely get an IS300 instead of the EVO

ya why did bring the evo over? when we could just convert lancers!

why did you buy a oz? when you could just convert a "es" for less money

is that the cheap way to do a conversion "oz to evo"

People, please do not forget when you buy the Evo already intact not only do you get the car already made to perform but you get the warranty. Converting a regular Lancer at this time cannot keep the warranty, so if you blow your engine up trying to get it to where the Evo already is that $30k works out to be the better deal.

IMO ... an IS300 (up close) is nothing more than a pimped out Honda with a Lexus badge ..... trust me, if you drove the IS300, and then drove the evo ... you would see what I mean as the evo is MUCH MORE fun! The only advantage the Lex has is a more comfortable ride overall (softer tuned suspension), but overall I think the IS300 is better suited for a girl or just somebody who doesn't enjoy going fast -- especially in Yellow. You payin' for the name with LEX kid ... sorry.

There is always the fun and pride in building up a "regular" car into something special, instead of just buying something special.

warranty pretty much is useless unless you have some sort of defect. it really only covers broken parts due to defects and under normal driving situations. racing your car immediately voids the warranty. dont' get me wrong, it's good to have BECAUSE of that, if something does happen then they'll fix it. but if you break your evo due to extreme driving, they won't fix it.

also....to evo1. i like the IS300. sure it's not as fast as an evo. not all cars can be. it's a different type of car. you can't compare a luxury sport sedan to an all out rally car. just because they are in the same price range doesn't mean they are comparable. and i disagree. you can drive ANY car fast. just because it doesn't have good acceleration doesn't mean it's not fun. my dad's camry is faster than my lancer, but i think my lancer is more fun to drive.

and lexus is a pimped out TOYOTA with a lexus badge

03LancerOZRally-i agree. it's much more gratifying knowing that you built that car to perform to it's current standards rather than buying it off the shelf. of course i would have no problem rockin a stock evo

My thoughts exactly.

Besides...give it a couple more years and watch out for many ES/OZ's that will be keeping up with many stock/lightly modded Evos. Believe me or don't, but mark my words.

I would love to have an EVO. But then everyone knows your car is fast. It is much more gratifying to have a car everyone thinks is slow, like an OZ, and then blow past em cuz they didn't realize you had a turbo and other **** under your hood. I'm sure Liquid and Boelancer have had all kinds of fun with their "sleeper" cars. Way more fun to make a slow car fast then to buy a fast car.
