What's awesome about the X50 is that you can add the attachment for the laser phaser thing.

I just ordered the beltronics 955 because from everything I've read, it's the best alarm for the money.

In case you didn't know Bel and Escort fall under the same ownership. The Bel Vector 9XX are the **** for the price. I have a Vector 945 all the Vectors have the same dectector in them just different features.

V1 is the way to go... counting myself, there are 7 of us that have V1's in the Phx area and we all love it (and most of us upgraded from other brands). The Escort 8500 was my previous unit, but the V1's direction arrows are well worth the extra $.

i used to drive around with radar detectors everyday, and i was convinced they worked. i thought well i have it i can speed and well it doesnt really work. with todays cop technology, a cop can turn on a switch in their car and get your speed instantly without you having a chance to react. its not worth the money to buy one. just watch up ahead. watch for break lights. always worked for me. and im sure most of you know where most speed traps are these days sooo...yeah

Well I can't speak from experience (I was a toddler the last time I was around a detector) but I don't necessarily agree with what you said.

Do the V1 and the 8500 detect this? I live in NY and goto school in OH and I've noticed that once I get into the PA/OH area my radar doesn't pick up the signal from police radars anymore. I know the NY police are still using K/KA, well at least around me. I also got a ticket in OH and I know the cop was shooting me with his radar, I figured there was some new band out but this is the first I've heard of it.

I have the Rx-650 which is the same as the 8500 and it does pick up POP mode. I believe the Valentine 1 does also.

You may have been caught with Laser. Pop mode is supposedley used to determine ones speed but cannot be used to obtain a 'tracking history' of the car which is needed to give a ticket.
