Oil Types.

Just wondering what kind of oil everyone use for their cars and how many miles do that change it at?

I use Castrol GTX Full Syntech 5w-30 with 1 bottle STP Oil treatment and change at around 3500-4000 miles

I was thinking of useing AMSoil 5w-30 like my wifes brother does on his subby, but its like $16 per quart.

Royal Purple 10W-30 if it's available, Royal Purple 5W-30 if it isn't. I guess if that wasn't available either I would go with Mobil 1 10W-30. I also use Purolator Pure-One filters, and Fram Toughguard if I can't get the Pure-One. It gets changed about every 3,000 miles. I run 10W-30 instead of 5W-30 because of the Florida heat. I buy the best oil I can get ahold of because I plan to have this car for a long time and may possibly turbo it in the future. I'd rather have an engine with high miles that's been pampered, so I just have to eventually upgrade the bottom end and not replace the whole block or have to have the cylinders bored out. I also drive the car hard and want to be sure that it can handle it both now and later on.

I use Schaeffer's 5w30 in mine. It is a synthetic blend that has a micron moly that no other car oil has in it. Its supposed to be better than full synthetic. Micron Moly is used in some machine shops like wire making facilities. http://www.schaefferoil.com/supreme_7000.html

I think I was reading somewhere that fram filters have a seal made out of carbord so this pretty much tells you what kind of filter you are getting.

For SC climate and non-turbo I use Castrol 5w 30 full syn w/ Fram oil filter. Never had any problems with them, so I'll continue to use 'um...
