Is this covered by Mitsu Warranty?

I went to Autozone today cause I've been having alot of transmission issues. I had already went to the dealer and the guys told me something was up w/ the tranny. Stealership charges too much, so i went to a local shop and got my tranny maintenanced. Everything is good now, but i still have a CEL. So autozone's dude plugged in and gave me a code. I ran the search on the forums and got this!

P0715 Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Anyone know where exactly this is located on the car? A dealer part#? Or if it's even covered by warranty in any way?

That would be a code from the transmission itself. It sounds as if the local shop you went to either didn't hook something back up, or the work they are doing has caused a bad reading to the ECU. Have you tried unplugging the battery in order to reset the ECU to see if it goes away?

I don't know if warranty will cover or not. Sorry!

I was already getting the light before I got it maintenanced. I took it to the dealer and they got rid of the code. I had the maintenance done at a local shop and everything was good. But the light is still there and the car starts to slip gears. But once i turn off the car and restart it goes back to normal. That's how i know it's something electrical. I reset the ECU but that caused all type of other **** to happen. but now everything is back to normal and light is still on. I'm trying to see if anyone might have a part # or something and I'll change it myself. Got no more money to be paying everyone to fix it.

Oh the dealer is no help. They wanna be charging me 100 for every little thing they check on the car.

I called the dealer and they run for about 85 a pop. Supposedly the tranny has 2 sensors. ( i forgot to get the part #) But anyways, Does anyone know exactly where on the transmission they go? Is there anywhere i can get like a picture dialogue showing me so i can do it myself?

it's likely that they either pinched the wire into the sensor; or forgot to disconnect it and dropped the trans (obviously damaging the wire or the components of the sensor) i already emailed you the pics but i just found your thread. sorry; i haven't been on a lot this week.

any updates, I still can't find the sensor. Would it be on the actual transmission itself, or would it be somewhere in my fuse box. I'm so confused and too broke to have it checked out

It's #3 in the diagram. I got this same error today. I had the tranny serviced yesterday, but all they did was flush the tranny. What sucks is i just bought the car (80k) and it had original tranny fluid in it. I took it back and it was half a quart low, which they filled. Hoping this doesn't come back on. Any one have any other issues with this?

After they cleared the code yesterday, it ran great for 40+ miles.

Then this morning started it up, got to about 1/3 of the temp gauge, drove and it did it again.

Called the shop. They are contacting a transmission specialist to see if they can find any info. For now I found some troubleshooting tips I forwarded to the shop. I'll keep you guys updated on how this pans out.

^^They power flushed the auto tranny? I'd always hear and said bad things happen when that is done...

Depends what you mean by power flush? I saw the device, it was a barrel with a hand pump. Would that still qualify as "power flush"? From what I understand they go in from the dipstick tube and suck it out.

if you get the code again... it's definitely gonna be your sensor. They tend to go bad after some time and from the extreme heat of the tranny. Especially in a car that has 80k w/ no tranny fluid change...lol

Get the sensors from mitsu dealer. Input and Output Speed Sensors.

keep in mind guys, I had an Automatic lancer when this happened to me.

Thanks for getting back to me on this Wallesasuaz. So should I just replace both the sensors and go from there? I think they are $80 a piece? The dealer wanted $310 to run diagnostics on it, labor, and parts cost. Should I just do it myself?

Anything that is done by hand I wouldn't consider "power"... So not in that case I guess.
