I also got the 10yr 100k warranty. We bought ours last November. However, I am voiding that warranty tomorrow . I don't think it's a bad investment - depending on who you are. For us, we were just happy they offered to sell us a new car! We paid about 15 (we got about 4k in rebates etc. though). Got a 3 year loan at 280 (just under) a month. Sure I'm wasting a lot by voiding the warranty - but haven't had a lot of good luck in the past with warranty work anyhow.

And to add to the conversation - MY thinking at the time was (strongest link) hey it's a Mitsubishi! (we were at a freakin' KIA dealership). I had bought a 95 turbo eclipse in 96 (new off the lot) and the car was great! The only bad points were people kept hitting me in it, and it got a lot of speeding tickets. . . Enough for a night in jail... But that's another story .

Sure, if you look at the lancer and rate it as a "performance sports car," its not going to do well. If you compare it to what you can afford, and other cars in it's class I think it's a worthy buy. I like mitsu and like I said hey we could afford it!

The strongest link is that it's a car you can work with and build to your liking.

All these evo owners that hate? Why? All I say is they have no vision, they want a car that's already made for them instead of taking time and effort into customizing something. I'm not saying all evo owners, but most owners look down on other cars and it's ridiclious.

Get creative

Well its also a question of finance. The evo is cheaper to mod and get the best results. Yes there is a higher initial cost, but eventually (as far as preformance) the evo is cheaper. There also is a widely available amount of parts for the evo as opposed to the lancer.

The lancer is like the scion, hell of a show car but alittle behind in preformance. Im gonna say looks is the strength of the lancer.

Actually that extra 15,000 g's could have a lancer beat a stock evo in a street race, it might not look as good, but 15,000 worth of mods is crazy, because who actually here thinks they race out in the street like a 2fast 2furious movie? Nobody!!

Yes you could get a lancer pay it off for 3 years and then trade it in and get the new evo, but for what? By that time your car will be you, your own style, and thats one thing people cant take away from you.

If you can afford it, do it, but personally I think people who take the time, money, and effort into building something and making something there own style have that much more pride than somebody who just bought an evo because its all done for them.

Seriously what more do you really need to do to an evo? You buy the car, drive crazy, and that's it. You have no satisfaction that you actually built your car to your own taste unless 300hp is not good enough for you.

With something less you can easily think of ideas, what you want where and such and such and you will have that much more satisfaction at the end of the day.

I'm not hating, I could of easily been financed for an evo or an sti, but I wanted something to work on like a lancer or an impreza for now.

That evo 9 is crazy though!!

can we not make this another Evo V.S. Lancer thread

this has been discussed before. we don't need another thread of arguements. you either drive a lancer or you drive an evo; so what? if you are happy mod'n it doesn't make a difference.

Just to finish this, yeah, I got about the same top speed in 3rd gear this morning.

I do agree - the gearing on Subarus is hella short. Too bad they only sell shorter sets (off the RA model).
