Unhappy Old Question, Need a new answer.

I want to Replace the stock gaskets on my exhaust (header flange/downpipe)when i install my header(Kamikaze). i ran a search a got a lot of good info on "yes you need to replace them and you need to replace the crummy bolts that come with it", but not a lot of info on where to get the gaskets. im not going to have a problem finding new bolts and locking nuts and washers, but im having trouble finding the gaskets.

if someone knows a good online dealer or has had a good experience with a local muffler shop it would be helpful. i want to do the install right the first time. like i said i ran a search but most of the threads were old and i was looking for new info. i appoligize ahead of time if the infos here and i missed it.

how many miles are on your car? ive just had kamikaze headers installed on my 02 at 36000 miles. the header gasket didnt need changed, it was fine. the bolts and gasket for the down pipe worked fine for me. however, the parts are a bit ill-fitting i.e. the end of the down pipe to the cat will require at least two gaskets. you dont need nothin special.
take the stock down pipe where it meets the cat, spray some black spray paint on it and press a piece of paper to it. take it to auto zone or where ever and say here, i need this gasket x2.
other wise it will leak there and effect low end performance. you"ll here a fluttering sound
if it is leaking. also be careful with the 02 sensors. my upstream sensor went bad during the install some how and i had to pay 126 for a new one. you'll also need something to trick your ecu into thinking the first cat is still there. rrm cel eliminator didnt work for me but a o2 sensor simulator from casper electronics did. summit sells em. direct fit plugs right into the factory harness. i have the part number if you want it.
sorry to be so long winded but i just went threw all this with the headers and it ended up costing more than you might think. and honestly the benefits werent worth the cost.

well i checked out mitsubishiparts.com and it had the stock gaskets so if all else fails ill fall back on that. my lancer is pushing 50,000 miles so i think im still going to change the gaskets

as for the cat issue i dont have any. i have 2 1/4" custom pipes from the stock manifold back. no cel light yet and its been 10 or 11 months. i still have stock flanges connecting the stock downpipe to the rest of the exhaust though. roadraceengineering.com has flanges for around $8 bucks so im going to get a flange with a 2 1/2" opening to match the kamikaze downpipe flange and it will narrow to 2 1/4" after that so i dont loose to much back pressure. ill take that flange to the shop to get a gasket that fits it, good trick with paint a paper though.

im going to take it easy with the sensors during install so i dont have to shell out $126, so thanks for the advice and good looking out. still holding out for info on gaskets other than stock. thanks for the replies!
