I leased a Corolla in 2000, and the new Corollas do have more HP, but they are as heavy as a f'n garbage truck, so there goes that idea. When I bought my Lancer in '02 I was well aware that other imports had more HP and was expecting to get my *** handed to me at every red light, but that simply has not been the case at all. (Can't explain it) All I know is I have had my share of runs from stop, and I have jumped out in front and held on much more often than I have gotten burned. I know some of the onus is on the driver and Lancers can't compete with Mustang 5.0s, Supras, and the like, but sh*t, getting slammed by Neons, Civics, Corollas, etc on a regular basis simply has not been the case here. Not at all.

Im glad i got the OZ. I love the yellow, and the interior looks a whole lot better. I was never planning or plan on getting a body kit. So the sideskirts and stuff help me out a lot.

i AGREE I have had my share ot winning off the line, and I can't really explain it either...it's kinda quick for only 125 HP..and now that I have an intake, exhaust with High Flow cat, it runs even better, I drive stock Lancers every day (because I sell them), and I notice a BIG differences between mine and them.

No offence, but comparing speed between corolla and lancer is like racing cows, what’s the point?

If I want to buy a under $16000 car, the main concern is equipment, reliability, and fuel economics, certainly not about power or body kits and OZ stuff. That’s why I say Lancer Oz is just lame. It got the fast look of Lan Evo (sort of) but not as good as corolla in just about everything which I concerned.

For close to 20k of money, Neon SRT certainly is no joke for its bang for the buck performence. It's fast, agile, brakes well and I say it even looks pretty bad *** in real person. The interior is average but its performence is wayyyyyyy ahead any cars in this catagory (even the upcomming Civic Type R). If you dump 5k of money in Lan Oz, I'll bet you Neon SRT still a lot faster in just about everyway. That's why SCC and many magazine gives Neon SRT such high score.

If I only got 20k and don't want a boring camery or accord, I go for Neon SRT. That's right buddy, I'll still be driving Neon, and you can laugh at my Neon 5 miles behind me.

Why any jet plane wonna race a propeller plane?

PS. If I hurt you guys feelings I am sorry, but I am just providing another point of view for our new car buyer.

I have no doubts that the New Neon is Fast, but it's a NEON.......the joke I've always made are the only cool neons I've ever seen are the one that use to glow under my car.

but seriously I know it's a good car, but if you only have 16K, the lancer is a nice little everyday car.

PS. no feeling hurt here, other points of view are good,

and If I were to go buy a new car today, I'd buy the New mazda speed protge...I've driven it, and it was FUN

Maybe right now it is the time for Neon's image to change. Dodge never serious about neon before thus almost no one seriously mod it. Time is diff now

see the word NEON still bothers me, and I'm not trying to bash you in any way, thats just the way I feel...not to mention that I personally would never buy an american car...not because the way they run, but american cars do not hold there value very well, I sell cars for a living, and every time you see a 3 or 4 year old american car, it's worth alot less than an import of the same age (that started at the same price)....I'm sure the NEON is a great car, I just would not buy one, I get a new car every 3 or 4 years, and I want some thing that is going to hold it's value. and simply put american cars do not

and as to a lancar being a nicer ride then a corolla...well thats a personal choice.. a lancer is faster than a corolla, but a corolla comes with more options and equipment....at any point a $16,000 car is a $16,000........just buy what ever you can see your self in every day for the next few years.....

but I give my little lancer OZ the
