YEA, They took my vin number and found one to match my car its a 2002 w/ 20k. so it's not really different, besides it's the real racing motors they use in Japan..

check with them is all i'm saying. find out if its a 4g94. if its not...then don't do it. like everyone else has said, it won't fit right in without other work. you need to just get a 4g94. i know someone selling theirs for a good price if you need one. pm me and let me know.

uummmm does japan have a different lancer with a different engine? Cause like in the UK, the lancers there have the 4g63 non turbo. maybe thats what he's talking about, cause last i remember, lancers are no where near "Real race cars"

let the engine dry?? but how did u destroy a rod by breaking the timing belt? and u also warped a head... damn do i smell some bs... time to get a 2nd opinion... i've seen cars pulled out of ponds, water pumped the motor, dried it out, replaced the fluids and it started like it was new...

also, i took in alot of water on my SRI (don't ask) car threw its first cel in 3 years, while on the trip from cleveland to indy, pulled over at a gas station after stalling at a light... i put it in neutral, rev'd the **** out it, neutral dropped it, and flew into the gas station as the car died. pulled the filter off, ran into the bathroom, used the hand dryer for 20minutes to dry the filter, slapped it on, duct taped the air inlet on my hood, and drove the rest of the way.

I have moved the car and have it over where the other mechanic is going to change the motor on the car. He said as of yesterday, it looks like it still has alot of water in the intake and motor.... He states it looks like there is enough water in there that when it was running the piston couldn't compress all the way like it's suppose to and and the piston kicked back too soon, so the piece that turns the rod wasn't at the right time and made the rod snap. The 1st mechanic, said that it looked like the head was mis-shapped, but this 2nd guy hasn't taken everything apart yet... he will find out with in the next day or so when he has a chance to work on it.. When it first happened we let the car sit over night and everything and it's been almost 2 weeks and theirs still water in the engine..... i donno. my timing belt didn't actually break. They say it just looks really streched and could have maybe jumped timing.. which could have thrown everything off rotation as well and caused the rod to snap.

Sorry... but thats not true.

That much water won't just evaportate out. You need to get it out of there and either dry it up or let the remainder evaporate for a while.

If the rod broke you'd be able to see it by taking the oil pan off. It's a simple procedure accomplished in about 30 minutes. I seriously doubt you broke a rod... especially if your mechanics are stating what your typing.

Timing belt stretched? Explain please...

Head mis-shapped? Even if you warped the head you can usually only tell via a straight edge.

Possibly timing off? Simply check it...

Rod broke due to being shot back? At idle or under 1500rpm this should not have happened. You'd have had to have been reving it pretty high to have accomplished this. You stated you were not.

Honestly... either the mechanic is not very experienced or they are trying to get your money... or you are not telling us exactly what they are saying.

PM me your mechanics contact info and i'll speak with them over the phone if you'd like. This way you can be assured you're not getting ripped off or mislead.

how to check to see if the timing jumped. the mechanic who's helping me isn't in it for the money really. i don't think he would lie to me about anything... i donno though. I have heard 3 people tell me the water situation. They are telling me it happens alot in FL and most insurane companies cover stuff like that.. So I donno what yo believe on that issue. when it went in the water. and you gave it gas the rpm's wouldn't move at all... and the idle was jumping anywhere from somewhere under 1 to 3... but you could try to floor the gas and nothing would move like the car wasn't getting the gas.... i donno the guy i have my car with now. either today or tomorrow he's going to take it all apart to look inside the head to see if it's warped... i just got that info from the other mechanic...
