Not to be exclusionary, but I do believe there should be a complete site for EVO owners. Since the two platforms are different in many ways, the EVO site shouldnt be bogged down by NA posts.

The board is pretty well setup to handle any expansion that would be necessary. Do you really think it'd be THAT necessary to setup something entirely new? If you look at it, the board was made for Evo owners, it just kind of happened that the Lancer came to the US. Then people started looking for info then BAM...the rest is history.

 

Hmm, very good point. So then we kick out all the NA owners? Just kidding.

 

Once you see the Evo come (this is hypothetical of course) what's gonna happen is you're gonna see posters break into the the two seperate Tech forums. That is where the division will come from. In other areas, I see posts just getting read and answered per usual. For stuff like gatherings and what not, sure you'll see it be Evo only or Lancer only but such things happen. In the end, it's a group of people fascinated by one car: Lancer Evolution. Just some of us can't afford one.

If or when the Evo comes to the US eventually there will be some natural separation. Just like there is in the DSM community. Doesn't mean that the Lancer owners will be discouraged from participating or vice versa. Since there is differences in the drivetrain Evo owners will have questions that pertain to the Evo drivetrain and Lancer owners will have questions pertaining to their rides. Eventually, expert advice will come from ppl who know their stuff and the mature ppl will always appreciate the efforts of ppl in the slightly different camp.

The i-club separation was inevitable, because the site had been "old-school" for so long ... we had 4 years of n/a Imprezas before the WRX ever showed up ... having the Lancer and EVO debut so close to one another, I don't think there will be as much resentment here between the to camps ... but there will always be those that look down on Lancer owners ... hopefully the mods will do a good job of keeping things organized/civil.
