Just out of curiousity has anyone ever used a N/A chasis for a Evo conversion?
It'll be cheaper to buy a new evo. It'll be easier to buy a new evo. A new evo will work better.
However, you seem pretty adamant that it can be done. So if the three statements above don't make you say "yeah, you're right, I should just sell the evo parts to make a nice down payment on a new Evo" then please get in the shop and get started on the project (and take lots of pics) instead of reading threads about how everybody thinks it's a not-so-great idea
Then start a new "converting OZ to Evo VIII" thread.

see the thing is i have another evo 8, and i have a wrecked evo which i destroyed., so buying another evo is pointless. i duno what i want to do. im in a throw up of buying a non running 2002 lancer poop base or a 1995 mitsubishi mirage 4 door. i duno.
see i kinda like that.
whoever converted a civic post pics! it would be equal amount of work but mine would be like 100 times cooler cuz i hate hondas.

I think it'd be cooler to take a 2 door mirage and put the 4G63 into that. Personally I prefer the look of the 2 door mirages, and I'm sure you could fit an evo-style body kit onto it, have a 2 door evo as it were.
Then go for it!!
A cheap lancer can't be that hard to find- although I'll suggest the OZ body style because there are more/better suspension options compared to the ES. Exhaust shouldn't be too hard to move (although there's not a lot of room under there because the exhaust runs through a channel under the body) and the rear diff can be accomodated if you modify the spare tire bay that hangs down in the rear. In fact, screw that and just do it like the old school muscle cars and do a side exhaust
If you have the engine, tranny, drivetrain, ECU, etc then it's all fabrication and wiring.

Personally if you have an EVO already why spend all the time and money to make another car similar to an EVO? If you have the engine and all that you should build a drag only Eclipse GSX or a drift Starion or something totally different than an AWD car since you already have one. If you want to be different you could even put your 4G63 into an old Mitsu truck and hang with 240s in drift events. It sounds crazy but I have seen it personally at a drift demo in MD. I think the Whiplash crew owns it. But to make a Mirage into an EVO is a waste of money and time IMO.
ive only heard of people converting these motors into RWD. i duno, i like the older evos, and to have all the new technology from the new evos in the old would be interesting.
yeah, money isnt a issue. u gotta remember, i flipped my evo mr race car. im thinking about the rear wheel drive **** would be nice, but i have a 6 speed tranny and both my diff's have cusco LSD's. so i duno.
i think using the old mirage chassis would be the sickest since you'd have a total sleeper on your hands to the untrained eye. there's still alot of people out there that can't tell the difference between a lancer and an evo by looking at them, but no one except a mitsu enthusiast would expect an evo swapped mirage!
hrmmm. does suspension and what not cross over for the mirages? like the nice solid aluminum casted lower control arms in the front? or does anything at that matter?
also, how the hell do i start selling parts in the for sale section it doesnt let me.

I know the Lancer front end was redesigned from the last gen Mirage (I tried to use the whiteline anti-lift bushings for the Mirage and it was a no-go) so I'll -assume- the Evo front end isn't compatible with a mirage. I could be wrong. Got a pic of your control arms? I can tell you from that.
I believe the evo swaps were earlier gen evos (V and VI ? ) that better matched the Mirage. I could be very wrong.
