If he really does have 3" piping from the cat back, his torque dropped a lot. The Lancer engine doesn't have enough displacement or power to necessitate that big of a pipe. His exhaust gasses would be travelling out of the car slower since gasses hug the side of the pipe, not fill it up. 2.25" or 2.5" would've been a lot better.

So what's the diameter of the evo's pipe? It looked huge at the auto show and the evo doesn't have more displacement than the US lance -2litres

****. I had no idea. Hopefully I can the mod the engine later to make up for it. Mid-range seems to have picked up though....CURSES!

We're not worried about the tips here if that's what you mean by pipe. I'm talking about the actual diameter of the exhaust piping UNDER the car. The Evo's turbocharged nature let's it spew out gasses faster than a naturally aspirated car, facilitating the need/use of a larger diameter piping, more likely 3" for the Evo as well as a lot of turbo'd engines.

Yes, your mid and high ends will have picked up (since by the time you're moving that fast you're spewing out more exhaust) but off the line you'll be ******* it (since of course, you're not putting out as much).

Me too -- I'm trying to learn from everyone's mistakes!

:headbang2 <-- tweakers suck!

So I have a RMR "exhaust"... can I just slop that RRM cat on it? What should I expect from that?

Like b told me...RRM doesn't have a high-flow cat per se but a test pipe...something that makes driving in emissions wary California very illegal. Do it if you want but I'd prefer actually waiting for a true high-flow cat. However...I can't wait to long. Hehehehe.

Patience my child, patience :P

I think RRM knows of the demand and they seem to be pretty on point with putting stuff out for us, so let's just give them a little more time. Once they come out with it I'm pouncing on it like...a...uh...crap. I dunno, but I think you get the picture.
