Unhappy Quick question....NSC damper installed.

i installed my engine dampner about 2 days ago..... it really makes the shifts smoother and does it's job.......

Only problem is when i put the car from "drive" to "park", the engine shakes which is causing the vibration on the chassis and feels like the engine will just die. Also noticed that when the car is not moving and is in DRIVE the RPM will stay at 1000 but when i park the car, RPM will go down to 600, jump back up to 1500 and that go down to 500 and stay there.

RPMs were still doing the same thing before i had installed the damper but the shaking was not noticable at all.

This vibration is pretty noticable so i am just concerned if this is bad for the engine and what can be done about it.

Any help will be great......

When I switch from D to R with my damper on I get a lot of vibration.. Its just because it doesnt allow the flex. About the rpm jumping..... Mabey its just on start up. Take the damper off and see if it still does it. Mine idles high on start up.

They say that with the damper youre going to feel the motor more, especially if your motor mounts are old or might be going. Ive got one on my ride (auto) and i dont feel it that much but then again i know my motor mounts are ok.

Your car is an 04', I doubt your motor mounts are bad. I get a vibration from the damper too. I can feel it in my steering wheel as well. That vibration has to go somewhere so the damper puts it into the chasis, if you had stiff motor mounts it might help, or make it more noticeable I'd be curious to see. When I put my damper on, the vibration was bad enough that I decieded to check everything out and I found I had bad plugs so I changed them. Now the vibration is alot less noticeable. It makes sense that if your engine is having problems, that you dont feel with soft mounts, when you stiffen it up with the damper things would be more noticeable.

Cool so i am not the only one with this problem. I will check out my spark plugs and see if they need to be replaced. I am pretty sure that there is nothing wrong with the engine becuase i do not notice vibration when the damper is removed.

Well thats what I am saying, you aren't feeling the vibration with the damper off because it is not transfering that energy to the car chasis. With the soft stock motor mounts you don't feel it. That doesn't mean that your engine is not running a little bumpy due to a bad plug, or injector, or because of a piggy ecu, or whatever. In my case I just thought the vibration was a little much and it inspired me to find out why. Turned out, the plugs were bad, causing my engine to be extra bumpy, and as a result, vibrating a little more than usual. I had Denso irridiums that were well beyond their life expectancy. Could be that there is nothing at all wrong with your engine performance, and you are just feeling the normaly produced engine vibration being transfered to the chasis, that we all have, but made more noticeable by the damper, and its enough to bother you. It does take a little getting used to, and I don't know what mods you have, but it would'nt hurt to give everything the once-over.
