First, let me post this disclaimer. I am not asking my question to insult anybody that has done this. I am asking because I want to know everybody's individual reasoning.


Why are there so many Lancers trying to look like Evo's?

Seems a bit like false advertising to me... I'll give you an example. You pick up a girl at a bar, she looks like she has at least C cups... and when you get her in bed you find out she was wearing a water bra and only actually has A cups.

Just curious...

 

Look at it this way:

We have Lancers.
We love Evos.
Some people just want to make their car look more like their dream.

Does that make sense?

Like, it's not a matter of "here's my fake Evo!" as much as it's "I love the way an Evo looks, so I should get that for my car!"

When some brunette gets a dyejob to be blond like Jessica Simpson, you don't go "ew, fake *****!", you just see a cute blond chick.

Any of that make sense?

I agree with blacksheep.
One time I met this guy with this really clean honda tell me that I should make it look more like an evo to fool every one. I was like "nah". Ken style FTW!

 

i got a VII kit. does that make me fake? no. i think the front of the 02-03 lancer is ugly, especially the grille. therefore, solve the problem by getting the front end that looks like my favorite evo. blacksheep pretty much hit the nail on the head. people have asked me if it was an evo. i laugh and say no. if i had said yes, then i would be fake.

P.S. no evo wing for me.

P.P.S. the only people that would think of it as false advertising are the people that wouldn't be able to tell the difference between an evo and a lancer that has an evo kit/wing.

 

I agree with you. If you told people it was an evo then you would be fake. People ask me all the time if my car is fast and I just look at them, laugh, and get a serious face and say "no"

 

lancers came out before evo's where even coming to the states.

this all the old 01-02 people that had lancers/mirages where turning their cars into lancers.

all the new people? I don't know.

Bring it down a few levels. Nobody is trying to say that taking some of the styling from an Evo makes you a fake. The whole thread was started to get INDIVIDUAL reasons for why each person has chosen to use the Evo element that they have... be it a wing, body kit, or even fenders and quarter panel.

 

Blacksheep pretty much covered it. To me, US Lancers give off a "family ride" vibe while the evo gives off a "badass rally turbo car" vibe. The more aggressive it looks the better. It just so happens that a lot of the aggressive body parts make the car look like an evo.

 

oh, im not getting defensive, thats just the way i talk sometimes. sorry if it seemed that way. but yeah, like i said, i dont like the way the stock front end looks, so i changed it up.

 

I do agree with you about the '02-'03 front end. I think it all looked too boxy. Even the rear bumper. '04-up is alot smoother, sexier... has curves.

at least its not as bad as neons looking like srts...evo and a lancer is a big difference...srts are just neons with juice

 

well kind of. different internals, different suspension. Its almost exactly like lancers and evos. However I would rather drive my lancer than a neon.
