this thread is great a test of amby's constitution...

just to contribute something, stock exhaust piping is 52mm in diameter. that's ~2.05".

well from what sound clips ive heard magnaflow always sounds really good. plus i can get a muffler from them for only 50 bucks. w/lifetime warranty. so it's a safe cheap bet i hope it wont leak when i clamp it.

You have to take into account that you're just putting on a muffler and not the same muffler that comes with the catback so any comparison to that sound is meaningless. Again, just go to a muffler shop and they can find something you like. If you don't want to buy it from them just go there, find a muffler you like and then order it online or elsewhere. Also, DO NOT CLAMP THE MUFFLER! Modding a car is a lot like buying a hooker, sure the 5$ hooker with no teeth, an 8 inch vagina and a 10 inch anus will do the job, but you'll regret it later.

yea ur right, i just heard magnaflow wasnt very restrictive and it gives it that american deep sound. just tryin to decide between 2.25 and 2.0 and which muffler to get. damn these decisions.

if your getting just a muffler the size doesnt matter. Ill make the decision for you. Go with 2.0". Then get a magnaflow or a greddy muffler and you will be happy with the sound. easy as that.

Now to to google and search up. Magnaflow mufflers and find the cheapest price you can and order it.

Don't bother with the high flow cat, put the money into actually welding the muffler on. Think of it like this, whats the point in having the cat more open when you're still squeezing all the gas through the tiny stock pipes? You won't gain anything, enough said.

It all depends on what else you do. If all you get is an intake, an exhaust system is useless, you won't gain any substantial amount of power. However, if you plan on doing other things, like TB, IM, header, etc., an exhaust isn't such a bad idea since you'll actually have an intake side that can take in enough air to warrant upgrading to larger piping. If all you're doing is getting a muffler for the look and sound, you won't gain any power whether you upgrade the cat or not. Modding isn't as simple as just "an exhaust will give me X hp", you have to take into account your other mods and where in the powerband the gains will be achieved.

well all i want is intake, cat, and cat back/or muffler. no headers or im. so i def wont get magnaflows projected 10 hp at the wheels with the cat back it looks like even though their dyno says so. so i guess i should just go cheap and at least make it sound good and get a little less restriction. Unless it's worth 400 bucks to get who knows how much hp w/that magnaflow? so knowing that im only doing intake, and prob cat. what would u recommend? thx

Don't bother at all then if you're actually looking for performance. An intake doesn't do much, just makes noise, a muffler is the same, and a high flow cat is a waste if you keep stock piping. On our cars the worst mods you can do are intake and exhaust, at least if that's all you do. I would guess with an intake (CAI or SRI), high flow cat, and a muffler you'll gain maybe 2 hp max.

well. if you go intake you really should just go cat-back 2.25" and leave it at that.

A highflow cat is only needed if you are pushin power.... Turbo or SC. You wont really gain anything from the high flow cat. spend that money on something else.

If you are set on going intake/highflow cat then go with a cat back exhaust at 2.25". But I would strongly recommend just skipping the high flow cat.
