I had my A/C knobs fixed only a while after owning the car. It's still stiff (and yet sloppy at the same time) but not as bad as when it was new.

But that wasn't a recall, was it? I thought it was just a TSB.

I had mines replaced three times even I never had any problems with it, the dealer had nothing better to do than to charge Mitsu and keep the mechanics from sitting and twindling their thumbs. The last replacement was a redesinged assembly that stops dirt and grit from entering in the vent that clogged up the AC/vent mechanism

My local dealer hasn't heard of this newer assembly for the vent. Do you have a part number for it? It's getting cold, and I can't turn on my heater!!!

Damnit, how can all these ppl have the same problem, but no proof of recall? I went and had them look at mine(vents always open, no warmth) and they told me it was my R/C cables that had fallen and disconnected the knob cords attachments to the vents". I would like to get my 90 bucks back, if someone could throw me some proof.

I took my radio out and the plastic hole below the ac control section and can see the connecting rod. It seems that the mechanism of the knob is good, but the cable on the back isn't extending out far enough to actuate whatever it is that opens up the hot air-it may have "fallen off" on the other end, like what the dealer told you. I can see that it extends into the dash, but where, I don't know. I am a bit skiddish to disassemble further.

Anyone have an electronic copy of the manual that can look up our dash and see where the cable goes?
