kyb shocks question

i really want to lower my car. thing is i don't want to get a coilover kit. i would really rather have springs and new shocks. my car has 66k on it. why does road race sell their kyb shocks for 400?. anyone know where i can get some kyb shocks elsewhere for cheaper? any help i would appreciate. thank you.

well, not that i recommend this or anything, but no one i know of has blown their stock shocks using just springs

but howcome your against coilovers? its definetly the safest and right way to go about lowering a car if you ask me

i dont need adjustable springs & dampening. but do you really think having 66k on stock shocks wouldn't blow it on springs? if alot of people can vouch for the fact that i wont blow my shocks with just springs then i probably wil just get progress springs. i'm not going to get parts with certain functions that i'm seriously not going to need basically.

Alot of people have blown their stock struts with aftermarket springs.

Blacksheep can vouch for this, as he himself has, or can point you into the right direction of people who have blown there struts. (I'm not sure if he had done it or not, but I know he can tell you the people thta have)

Simply put, the stock shock cant contend with the aftermarket spring.

i dont know if my struts are totally blown but i can tell you 55k miles later on springs the car handles like crap and is dangerous... when u hit a bump while braking it almost feels like the car looses traction or actually it does...

Yeah, I blew my shocks on S-techs. And gbwaacha probably has blown shocks as well. You could get a line of folks that would pile on, I'm sure.

Back on-topic - since the GR-2s are new, I doubt you'd find them much cheaper. Maybe contact KYB themself or a shop that resells KYB parts? RRM is going to have a natural markup...

I know GR-2s go for $250 on Subarus, so check around a bit.
