So i was driving along, in a bit of a hurry. Then i came to a turn and took it at around 30'ish mph. I cornered pretty well and didnt hit the brakes, i could feel the car being pushed to the point where it would loose control, but instead it suddenly smoothed out, and i coasted through the turn perfectly. Not a single squeak out of the tires
its not a problem or anything, just suprised me, i thought i was gonna skid, but nope.
this ever happen to anyone else?

ok..
do you have any type of suspension mods?
Oh yea, it smoothed out cause you stop accelerating so the car is going to naturally slow down. If you would have kept your foot on the accelerator, for sure it would have skidded or fishtailed.

it was just wierd, cos it felt like it was gonna loose control and then all of a sudden it smoothed out. pretty strange

you are supposed to hit the gas in a FWD car, if you brake chances are you'll lose control. stay on the gas, but don't whomp on it and you will make it around the corner provided you're not driving like a maniac.

Yes, brakes around a turn to try to slow down quickly is very bad. I have gone into an offramp twice much to fast and braked... I saved it both times but I was sideways... Both times I was cruising with my car club. (They have full susp) and I forget I cant take turns like they do...lol
The OZ lancer doesnt hanle horrible stock...
yeah, ive figured that out the hard way many times, once u brake while turning your steering is gone
and accelerating hard isnt good either cuz it causes the tires to slip some
mild acceleration or just keeping it steady =

brake before you turn, coast through the trun and accelerate on exit.
yeah man if you were still accelerating in the turn your front wheels were pulling you car the direction you needed to go.

i have drifted around a corner once taking a nearly 90 degree turn at 40 mph, i turned and accelerated and slid into the turn. Scared the **** out of me but it was fun. I was getting my rims and tires put on the next day and there was only grass off the side of the road so i took it fast for fun. Other than that I've had some quick turns and the car always held up, the handling is great until you hit the brakes. Anyone else's steering wheel pull when you are braking?
What you probably experienced was going through the apex. The car is going to pull the most G's at or around the apex of the corner, right afterwards you are pulling out of the corner and the G forces are less. A fwd car cannot "drift". FWD cars however do experience oversteer. If you accelerate fast into a turn, hit the apex, and lift off the throttle while turning hard, the weight of the car will shift to the front and the rear end will be light, consequently the *** end will swing out. This is called lift-off oversteer. The same thing can happen when you brake suddenly right before a hard turn (when you slow your car down the weight transfers to the front of the car and lightens the rear of the car, making easy to break the traction of the rear tires). These are all things to be aware of, and be very careful not to lift-off or brake suddenly while turning in the rain/snow or you might find yourself doing a few 360's into the curb.
