? on exhaust

on my 02 lancer es i have 4-2-1 headers with a three inch outlet with the matching test pipe, intake and a kind of civic style exhaust, meaning i took the huge f'en muffler off the back of it and put on a baffle and left the little inline in the middle. and i was wondering would it make much of a difference performance wise if i went ahead and took the 3" exhaust the rest of the way back the car, with a high flow muffler or something. a little help would be nice. thanks guys

Wow. Do you have any backpressure left?

Yes, it should make a difference. Nothing huge, but you'd probably notice the change.

i have the same setup only i dont have the resonator and i have a can muffler. F-ing loud as hell but yeah it burbles when you let off of the gas. Thinking of after i go turbo in Jan ill remove the muffler and put a resonator in, maybe a glasspak or perhaps a cutout.

Yah, thats crazy huge. Unless your pusing insane power on a turbo theres no way that size exhaust helps you any. I have a 2.25" and thats just about perfect. sounds perfect to.

but yeh. you might as well 3" the whole thing. lol

well 2 1/2 was wat i had on my last car but the header i bought was 3" and i jus bought the matching test. i might scale it down some when i do it but that will take a little more work too because in doing it myself, (like on my last car) and ill have to find some conectors that scale down from 3" to 2 1/2".

Wow i cant belive there are no comments on the civic burn. lol. i thought for sure that would arouse someone.

lol I didn't really understand the civic joke, maybe its too complicated or I'm dumb. But yeah you have a lancer now, get used to needing as much backpressure as you can get. 3 inches can't be helping at all. Even with turbo the 2.5 inches works great. You might even feel a good difference if you go back to 2.25-2.5 all the way back.

Why? It wasn't interesting or new. You just called your ricer exhaust "civic style" which is pretty normal around here...

If we wanted to get into burns, I'd question your "STIslayer" screenname when you drive a car that's slower than my 2.5 RS.
But we won't get into burns. So I won't say it.

Don't be oversensitive. I was kidding. If I was going to sit here and make fun of your car, it'd be dumb for me to moderate a Lancer forum, now wouldn't it?
