4G93 IM and RRM Header on the way
The scheduled delivery date is tuesday, the install date is wednesday. The IM I bought from a local junkyard and I am going to have it heavily ported. The header is one of the stainless steel headers from RRM... Can someone say great customer service??? These guys are great, really helpful getting the stuff I need. With these 2 parts and a big tune coming I will update this on Wednesday when it is installed. This spring I will be running at the local 1/8 mile track and will again update at that point. My lancer is quick right now, I can't wait to see what it will be like later this week.
Only the intake manifold got installed today. It was a pain in the butt to fabricate. Several things needed work on them, got it all installed, had a vacuum leak, fixed that, injectors leaked fuel everywhere, fixed that, another gasket leaked fuel everywhere, FINALLY all that was fixed. Drove it home for the night, going to get the headers and tune done tomorrow as well as fixing some stuff on the manifold. The throttle cable kind of sticks just a little bit now, there is a weird noise coming from the manifold, and some mid range power was lost (could be the car running fairly lean). The car sounds like a beast now. NO rice at all, sounds like a nice strong V6 or V8. Maybe a little power increase on the upper end but low and middle lost power. AGAIN, this could be the car running lean considering I had it tuned stoich before adding the manifold, thus adding more air. More updates tomorrow.

got the headers on, intake manifold problems fixed, and tuned. The car sounds MEAN right now, very mean. I like it a lot. I can't tell too much difference but maybe a little low end torque was lost. High end, some was gained, nothing crazy. It's hard to tell right now since it just started raining and the roads are VERY slick so I get hardly any traction. I will update this on a dry day.
A tune will show benefits on every type of setup. From stock to heavily modified...
On an Evo, after every mod.
On a Lancer - after heavily modifying many parts of the powertrain. Maybe. Honestly, the N/A setup is probably going to never need much tuning. A piggyback is great for making power, but you can bolt parts on and just let the ECU learn. If you're boosted, then more tuning will come in handy after modifying.

Did you measure those numbers wit ha wideband? Wait for it to learn a little bit. If it does not get back down near the 12s AFR then a tune is in order. A piggyback or other device can get things back in shape. Call us if you have a question about your situation.
