Exclamation my OZ is making funny noises??

ok well here is the story!! well today i was driving around and nothing was going wrong. i went to school came back home. then my gf came over and i was like here why dont you try and learn stick. didnt get more then 10 feet and i was just like stop before you hurt someone. she couldnt grasp the clutch and gas pedal in her head so my car reved pretty loud. so i took over and started driving. then I started to drive and we notice a wierd sound coming from my right front side. it sounded like something was spinning and scrapping. and it made a worse sound when i tried to break. it sounded like an airplane was landing!!. i have no clue what it could be?? i dont know much about brakes and tires or what ever it could be. what i think it might be (and this is just a guess) is that either my break calliper is f**ked up, my brakepad is f**ked up, my car needs an allignment, my axel is f**ked up, or maybe even my suspension. so if you have any idea share the wealth?

is it like a grinding noise? does it seem to get worse the faster you're going?

kind of sounds like when my caliper locked up on my old subaru.

i jus had the same problem like 3 days ago.
my pad were gone and they were digging into the rotor, i had to get new rotors but if u get it fixed soon u should be fine.
or it might be the caliper sticking.
but if it is the pads and or rotor i suggest auto zone. both of them from auto zone has a warranty on them the breaks have a life time, jus take em back and get free ones, and the rotor has like a 2yr, same thing.

well my OZ is stock except for an apexi N1 exhaust. so i think the best thing to guess would be break pads. tomorrow im going to jack my car up and take off the wheel and just get a better look at it. its such a wierd noise because its like this annoying sound when your going slow but you pic up speed and i cant hear it. then i break and it sounds like my right side is just going to break off!!

i had a similiar problem over summer. could be your break pad sticking. basically the piston pushes the pad against the rotor but never goes recedes back with the piston. this can wear the pad and the rotor. this would be the cheapest possible resolution so try that first.

oh sorry!
so any way go to auto zone and get some brake glue. take your brakes off and remove the pad. clean em of with a rag or something then spray the backs with the glue stuff and put it all back to gether. cheapist fix if thats it. if not. then at least you only spent 3.50 and now know how to change your pad in the future.

seriously though consider the brake pad stickin thing. when my car did it was out of the blue. took me for ever to figure it out. one time it was squeling like crazy and when i got home and stopped the tire started smokin. then i knew pad was stickin for sure.
can you further elaborate on the sound some more.

well lets see...my car sounds like it is whistling when im jsut cruising. when i kinda speed up i cant hear it but it might be my exhaust drowning the sound out lol. then i step on the break and all hell breaks loose. it sounds like when a airplane lands (you know the big woosh sound) but with a little more scrapping. i think your rigth about it being the break pad. i talked to my dad about it and he said there is a pin that keeps the break pad in place and it might have come loose and now the break pad is loose and hitting the rotor. so tommorw im gonna check it out. my dad wants me to wait till monday so both of us can take a look and then go somewhere to fix it. i still wanna check it out thoguht so i can at least get a better look at things. ill keep you guys updated and thanks for all the feed back!!!

Yep... either you finally went all the way through your brake pads and are now going metal on metal with a stuck caliper, or you may also have a wheel bearing gone. When you say that all hell breaks loose when you put on the brakes, I'd lean heavily towards the problem being the brakes. Try to save your rotors and keep from driving it until you're ready to get it fixed. If you make any attempts to pry the caliper free (if its stuck) be sure not to apply pressure onto your rotor as you can damage them and end up having to spend even more dough. Good luck with it!

dont take it some where, that would be silly. start by just pulling the brakes off. its just two bolts on the backside of the caliper. yank it of and and pop the pads out.
now at this point notice if the pads come out easy or if its difficult. if its real hard to get them out then you know their prolly stuck and pushed up against the rotor. if thats the case try my brake pad glue suggestion. this willalso give the chance to see if their just wore down.
if their worn i'd suggest a brake upgrade. the axxis pads stop 10x better than the stock pads.
your noise sounds exactly like the noise when i had this problem.
just a fyi, but the reason you cant hear the sound when you go faster is not only becuz of other sound drowning it out but becuz the pitch raises to a frequency beyond human hearing. think of a dog whistle.
again this could be a simple problem with a simple solution. take it some where as a last resort. or if you dont have basic hand tools and know how to remove two bolts.
