Evo 5 in Cali
I dunno if this has been discussed before but i found out that Digitalracer.com did a Buttonwillow Track Day, and a Evo V was there:

It looks street legal, there are registration stickers on the plate.

That car looks like a JDM EVO V to me, don't think it's a coversion otherwise, the shop did a hell of a job in such coversion. I am guessing some guy just import this EVO into US and get around all the restriction and have it registered.
Question
In regards the rear tail lights, I've noticed some Evos have the extra two lights in the center on the trunk and some don't. I know the TME is supposed to have it, but have seen it inconsistently with other Evos. Which ones are supposed to have it and which ones arn't?

Those lights within the trunk are just accessories lights you can buy i think, i'm not sure tho. My sisters base 98' Lancer GLXi in the Philippines has some.

Don't know...
Now I'm even more confused. I was looking a Lee's Evo V and he has those extra tail lights too, but included in those lights are the back up lights, just like the TME. I thought that was only on the TME.

OK, here's what I heard: the UK cars do not have the extra fog lights on the trunk lid. That's because the cars from Japan do not have fog lights (there is no fog in Japan). Therefore, the UK cars add a small fog light either into the bumper or just below it. On the LHD cars, however, I've always seen them.
Maybe one of our Japanese friends can shed some light on this?

Thanks Claudius but......
Ok, I know about the fog light in the bumper. I also know the TME is supposed to have those lights on the trunk lid and now we have established LHD Evos have them and to support this, I just checked a Japanese Evo VI brochure, low and behold, no lights on the trunk lid, but, Lee's car is a RHD Japanese Evo and he has those little lights. What's more, he even has the backup lights extending onto the trunk lid and I have seen several other Evos, including TMEs to have this also.
There seems to be Three variations of this:
1) No lights on the trunk lid.
2) Solid red lights on the trunk lid (as pictured above).
3) and variation 2 with reverse lights on the trunk lid.
I know this isn't really important but, it's bugging me.

Interesting. I wonder how whoever owns it pulled it off...since it has plates it's streetable so that's quite odd.
, but can be a V too...
