If I were RRM, I wouldn't get into accepting monthly payments. It's a completely different line of business to start financing people's debts. That's why dealerships have whole finance deptartments and they have the backing of the national company in the investment.

RRM's got to put the money up right away to pay for parts and send them out, which is far more than $500 of parts, so right off the bat, he's lost money and has to wait to gain it back.

Also, the reasons given for this method over a bank loan are poor or new credit. If I were RRM, I don't think I would trust someone without established credit if they won't be trusted by a bank. Most of you should be able to qualify for 3-4K in a bank loan and if you're talking about needing your parents help for that, then consider that a deterrent and motivation to establish your own credit before asking someone else to hold out their neck for you.

though a payment plan would be nice its unrealistic for all the reasons stated previously so i will not bother reiterating them but just nod and say yes

forthermore i ditto what rob said, people just save your money and buy the kit its not that hard to keep yourself from buying 1000 decals from autozone just becuase you want something to do, be bored for a few months and be happy for a few years

the only way they would probably do this is if they could just get your credit card and charge the payments automatically at the end of each month otherwise they would have no way to make sure they got paid back and as for the bank loan idea try like killer interest on a personal loan esp if you are under 40 and still have a car & house payment
