Cold Air Intake For Automatics?.

Now as I know by now there are some nice and very functional cold air intakes but for only 5 speed models. As with me having only an automatic that sucks but I saw from Racing Sports Akimoto a flexable intke system that you can bend to your specs. Is there actually a cold air intake for automatics and not the short ram intake that there already is. Already have that style but you know like the aem v-2 style?
Help this old man.!!!

I'm confused. I don't see why would a tranny would be a factor for a CAI. I always thought it would be the engine. For my "other" car the CAI are the same between a manual and a auto but different between the 2.2 and 2.4 liter engines. Make your own. A muffler shop can bend some pipe for you. Just need a grommet and drill a hole for the sensor. Then you can get any size filter for it. Just a thought.

yeah as far as i know there isnt one because of the piping sits next to the tranny which will get hot, so it a warm air intake, right?

I have a automatic and used the RMR intake. I think the auto tranny blocks the path for some of the intakes like the one from Injen. I bought a Injen and it didn't specify if it was for a auto or 5spd. I learned the hard way. I ended up selling it to another guy with a manual tranny for $120.00.

Ok I see what you guys are saying but a CAI would take the place of the stock intake system. So wouldn't heat be a Issue for the stock one also??? Plastic or not?? DaD for the CAI in question where is the filter located???

The intake that would replace the stock box would be a Short Ram Intake (So no major heat issue).

The Cold Air Intake uses piping to get the filter behind the bumper, wich is lower than the stock box, which is why the tranny becomes an issue.

Please correct me if I'mwrong. (I based my answer on information gathered around on this site)

I have a Injuen CAI on my Auto Lancer. Required a bit of custom bending. It is great and the filter is located right where my Bumper hole is (where I put a mesh). Cold Air coming right in. I was actually the first one to have an Injen CAI. For the low price of $369 when it was sold to me direct. Have to sell it now since Turbo will be in in about a week.
