motor mount me

hey i was just wondering if i need motor mounts, since i dont know anythinga bout them or replacing them. My engine shakes when i step on the gas, and i'm seeing a little freeplay in the front motor mount when i look down in the engine bay. Does it seem like i need new motor mounts???? how easy or are is it to install.

and how many of them are there.......2 , 3???

There's 2 and you only need them if you plan on big power. I have a solid front and the car vibrates at idle and such.

actually theres 4, front back and sides, i think hes asking about stock mount replacements not upgrades?

My engine shakes when i step on the gas
i believe this is normal my engine also did it before i went with solid mounts, they are supposed to let the engine move so that you do not feel it on the car, like when i leave my door open i can see it shaking from the engine vibration because i have the solid mount.

And you should be able to look at the mounts and see if they torn or broken, or just go have them checked out.

The motor is supposed to be able to move. That way nothing breaks...

Silens is right. There are 4, but only 2 get changed when people get the aftermarket ones.

DickMorgan - you don't need new ones. Unless the stock ones are broken (look from the side for torn rubber), they are just fine. You can get the aftermarket ones if you choose, but you really don't need them at this point.

WE are seeing a lot of broken ones on 02-03s. Rememberthe ars are showing some age now. It is possible you need mounts. Inspect clsoely for cracks. You may have to get dirty. Then decide.

I have a very odd squeak coming from the engine bay, then i put 'her' in park quickly and/or i'm heavy on the gas pedal.

Does this sound like a mount?

Sounds about right. Check them, see if anything looks out of place.
