Head Swap

Im looking to buy a Mirage Head from someone, who has one (to Port & Polish).
I searched and found out that the 4G93 Head-swap is do-able, and that the mirage lifters are mechanical vs. hydrolic like our cars.. etc. etc.
The only things I cant find is:

1. Does the mechanical vs hydrolic issue mean that I have to change some things?

2. Does it have to be the Head from a 1.8L?

This person offered me the Head from a 1997 Mirage 1.5.

Thanx!

You should be fine with either lifters. Different years had different lifters. I want to say that the 1997 had the same as the 4G94, but my memory isn't perfect. Couldn't hurt for you to poke around on the Mirage forums to find out.

Yes, it has to be from a 1.8L

97 G93 = mechanical as in adjustable
98 G93 = unknown since I don't know much for that year . . . rare.
99+ G93 = hydraulic, not adjustable

Actually, there are other miragers who can beat me in knowledge. Well, a hand full of them at most, except for people in PR with their voodoo tuning. I can't explain that nor the H22's high revving property (besides Vtec). I'm dumbfounded on those matters.

Nah, I searched and found that our cam is better.
Im prolly gonna upgrade the cam anyway.
If it has to be from a 1.8 then I cant do the swap tho.. damn.
Oh well.. Whats the benefit of the adjustable lifters?

Ummm...our cam isn't better. The mirage cam is equivalent to a RPW stage 1 cam (apparently), something that should have come up if you looked into it. My advice would be not to upgrade the head. If you have to ask these kinds of questions, it isn't the mod for you. That isn't meant as an insult, it is simply meant as a warning so you don't dive right in and then find out you wasted your money. Wait till you have more mods and can actually make use of an upgraded head and then just buy a 4G94 head (can get them damn cheap) and have it ported or buy the one from RRM that has everything done to it (port and polish, valve job, cleaning, etc).

No offense, but if you didn't even know that the 4G93 was the 1.8L, how much research did you actually do?

Skip the head. Get something worthwhile.

x100000, it'd be like saying you want to go turbo next week then asking what a turbo actually does.

The 4G94 is a 2.0L
The 4G93 is a 1.8L.
The 1.5L motor is neither (but I don't know the engine code off the top of my head).

You just proved us even more right. You don't know what you're talking about. I'm sorry, but the truth hurts sometimes.

Exactly, all of that stuff should have come up when you supposedly searched. Now this leads us to make one of two conclusions, you either A. didn't search and just lied about it or B. don't know how to search worth a crap.
