stock vs stock the 08 looks much better, at least has an interior thats built a lot better if not looks better, and certainly should perform much better.

now, if you modded an 08 like that 02 lancer you showed, I'm sure the 08 would look amazing. Although, the 02 wasn't much to my taste, but you get the idea.

I still think an 04-06 with projectors, carbon or evo style hood, rrm lip and black tails looks the best out of all of them. if they are kept just simple and clean, they look the smoothest out of all 3 generations

 

that 08 is "modded". it has no body kit or anything, but its is lowered with rims. kinda sad how its lowered and still that much higher than the 02-03.

i hate the lines on the new ones. the front end IMO is too pointy and the back end it way to tall.

 

Hate to break it to ya bud but that body kit is alot of the reason the 02 looks lower to the ground...

Why compare apples to oranges. Go get a GTS 08, and lower that. I wont even request a different front bumper.

 

check out the back end bud...that's a stock oz lip.

better yet...check out the height on the top of the trunks.

i was also just throwing these pics up that i found somewhere else. that's why i'm comparing apples to oranges. i didn't take these, i just found it interesting.

i'm sure they'll grow on me, but i just like the boxier look of the 02-03 personally.

 

The front reminds me of a smushed down/together front from an 06 Dodge Charger

 

I would take a stock 2008 over that riced out 02-03 OZ, no contest what so ever. The previous gen Lancer looked and was priced for what it was, econobox. 2008 Lancer actually looks refined and more expensive than it actually is. I know people are sentimental to their rides but looking at it from a neutral point of view you would have to be blind to pick the 02-03 OZ over the new generation.

And one more thing, I actually sat and drove in the new one and I can tell you that it looks a whole lot better in person than on any of the pictures. And performance-wise it also feels quicker than the last generation.

 

Uh the 03 in the pic is turbocharged and such.

08 GTS = Pretty, Luxury, High Tech

03-02 OZ = Rally, Rugged, Mean

04-06 OZ = Fugly

my opinion. They are 2 totally different types of cars.
Personally i prefer the rugged rally look of the 03's. Although the 08 luxury styling is still very nice, it's not my preference

 

But what are we comparing? Looks or performance? From aesthetic point of view there is no comparison, 2008 wins hands down.

Rugged??? It looks boxy and squared, like something you would drive in the early 1990s. But yeah, different strokes for different folks, it's just that some people actually have a sense of aesthetics and style and some don't
