Question This ever happen to anyone else?

This happened to me last night, and has happened a few times before.

I was talking to my neighbor about my car n such, cos i was in the driveway fixing it.
When he comes out with...."Yeh, a guy came by the shop yesterday, he has the same car as you, but he put in the AWD converstion kit and a stage 3 turbo". I asked if he ment and Evo, but the kid insisted that it was a base model, just like my car.

This has happened plenty of times before when i've been talking to other people, they will be like "yeh i have a friend with the same car as you, they dropped an Evo engine in and turbo'd it, it does 10's"

It just amazes me, i wanna know where these "AWD conversion kits" are hiding cos i would sure like one. And who are all these people who just "drop" evo engines in their lancers???

Does this happen to anyone else when your talking to people about your car? People talking about AWD conversions and stage 3 turbos as if they were nothing?

These people have no clue whathey are talking about, I guarantee it. They simply think they know all about cars and that the Lancer and evo are the same thing. Tell them you are positive that the person they know did not do that, if you want, make a couple bucks by betting on it.

yea make some $$$

i could understand if it happened once, not every lancer owner is on these forums and someone might have been crazy enought to pull off an AWD conversion, but ive been told that too, also been told how nice my evo is even when my car was stock so yeah, its just that people dont care to notice the difference which is obvious by just looking at the car, unless you got an Evo kit on the lancer, but even then you can still tell its a Lancer because of the body lines.

yeh i get the mistaken for an evo. For someone who doesn't know better, it's an easy mistake.

I'm just amazed at the blatent fabrication of so called "friends" who have the same car as me, and have done all this miraculous crap to it

See crypto what happened was you challenged his manhood by being outside wrenching on your car while he was inside watching the ballet so he had to say something impressive to get his stripes back. I betcha he didnt know the difference between a right-handed phillips screwdriver and a left-handed flathead if u asked him

I get people like that all the time even when Im just changing my oil.

I had a redneck in a beat up old dodge try to talk to me while riding down the road when I had my windows down. He almost rear-ended someone while doing so, and wanted to know "how much I had in it." When I said it was stock he said "That there car came from the factory like dat? Dang man that's nice" in his oldd Boomhower fasion- People know nothing about the Evo, that's another reason why I love it.

Funny you mention, but I had some teen at the mall parking lot say to me that he had just picked up a Lancer and was looking to do a RHD conversion on it. I walked on and said, good luck with that! LOL <--- seriously, out loud!

I have had a guy that was driving a nice looking WRX pull up next to mine (this guy was in his late 20's in a business suit) and be like wow, that is an awesome looking car. This is before my wheels tires. So basically stock ES with stock OZ wing and a muffler...
