It's SportAuto, I'll check on the times, but I'm sure the 6 annihilated the S4, although SportAuto are obviously quite biased towards German cars. There is no contest between the S4 and an Evo 4,5,6 or 7 if compared from an Evo point of view. The S4 is just very slow in comparison, doesn't matter how you measure it, be it grip, speed, handling etc.. The S4 is a cruiser, not a sportscar. The only Audi that comes close to the Evo in some matters and is better in one (straight line speed) is the RS4.

i cant believe you all think the S4 is that slow...given it is slower, but no by much, and the EVO is the best lancer, the RS4 is the best A4 and there would be now comparison between the RS4 and the EVO...the RS4 would make the EVO look like a Yugo with nice rims and a body kit.

Hehehe, I ain't talking about looks here, boy. Talking about performance. The Evos ain't pretty, I agree, but performance wise even the RS4 isn't a match. I know, I own a 6 and have driven a 420bhp RS4 quite extensively. Have you experienced both cars? Thing is, I've spoken to two RS4 owners that drive well and have experienced both cars, and both agree that the Evo is more of a drivers car and has better handling (just compare weight as one factor). Of course the RS4 is faster in a straight line, but only when travelling faster than about 60mph, before that at least my Evo has the edge over my mate's RS4 RS4 owners don't even argue about the whole thing, but say they wanted to have a car which is sporty AND has almost all the luxury you can get, if they wanted an all out, 4-door drivers car, they would have chosen something like the Evo. I could've bought an RS4, but I wanted the latter, the cars are very different. The S4 doesn't even come into the equation although it seems that S4 drivers seem to have a big chip on their shoulder which the RS4 drivers don't have, go figure. Smoking S4s (even tuned ones) is less than an effort for me. That ain't arrogant, just the TRUTH!

AS Michael said the mag is called Sport Auto and the EVO VI RSII trounced the S4 by almost 20 seconds. That translates into almost 1 second per kilometre quicker. This is a big difference. And for the Ring not being twisty

RS4 and EVO VI RSII recorded almost the same lap time so not much into it.

Cheers

ain't that right, Michel! It's quite logical that the RS4 and Evo will have similar laptimes, cause in the twisty sections the Evo will be quicker and on the high speed ones the RS4 will obviously rule.

Totally agree Michael. I would even claim that driving such a lap with the EVO is a much bigger thrill than in the RS 4 luxury tank.

Hey, but Michel, in the RS4 you can listen to some "great" music on the Bose system and have your *** heated by seat warming while doing the lap. Also, I wonder if the Ring is in the satellite navigation system...."Demnächst bitte rechts abbiegen"....

Maybe this is why the RS4 is as fast as the EVO as it guides you around those fast bends

On April 6 I'm in Anneau du Rhin near Colmar for the first track day of the year. If the back stands it I'll go to the Ring in April for some days of fun. I'll keep you uptodate for a meeting with some driving and to enjoy other nice things

Cheers

I don't think we need to go crazy with the moderation here
Let us worry about that

What's wrong in this thread then? I agree it's a bit disorganised, but otherwise... The S4 IS a slow car compared to the Evo, even looking at it 100% objectively. It's not a slow car compared to the average car, there it is in fact quite fast, but that's not what I'm talking about at least.
