Thinking of turboing - is it really worth it?
i think its good power deffinatly i am not dissapointed with my rrm kit, i am just open to understanding and being able to weigh other options.
I've had my RRM non-IC kit for about 2 years I think now.. and I have never been let down by it. Its working flawless. I've always thought about tossing on an intercooler, but I never got around to it. The only time I notice a performance drop is in 80F degree weather or hotter. An IC would clear up that problem a little better.
Anyhow, get the turbo, don't be a panzy.

Think about things like insurance rates and financing for a faster car. A mustang will hurt your pocket a lot more than a Lancer due to insurance. An intercooled turbo lancer can handle mustangs all day, and you still pay insurance for 120hp car. That's what has kept the EVO out of my grasp. Sure I could finance one, but I couldn't handle it after that. Stick with what you can afford comfortably, think about what's most important, and do it.
Also take into account reliability and maintenance costs with an aftermarket turbo car. Gauges, plugs, more frequent oil changes, better tires, better brakes (haha i hope), improved suspension etc is needed to fully take advantage of what you are doing. You will be spending a lot of cash, but the nice thing is you can do it over a period of time, and always quit when you have had enough.
RRM has outstanding reliability it seems. And as Rock said, who has regretted their decision to turbo?
Plus, a turbo lancer is one of the coolest sleeper cars.

Now if i could get an Evo, i wouldnt hesitate! I dont care if i would just be making it by...but i live in Canada, and we dont have them...not right now anyways till October, btu i cant afford a 60 000$ + car anyways. And STI's are still above 30 000$ used around here.
Ive been doing a lot of research on RRM and their products, they seem like a great company with awesome product, no doubts there
!
As for selling my car, right now, im not losing out on my downpayment, i just got the car in Feb. of this year , brand new! Im stuck with it. One thing i do regret though, is i should have paid the extra 40$ more a month for an RA model.
And as for satisfaction, of course im going to be more than thrilled to turbo, but basically, i want a reliable daily, that just faster. If i were to buy another car for 2000$ and then spend another 2000$ into a new motor or a custom turbo kit, i know it will just cause me more headaches in the end....old cars always need fixing and are not reliable! That's why i finaly decided to just buy a brand new car, i know what has been done, how its driven, and the service history, etc.
thanks for the info though guys, i think ive got my answer! All i wanted to know is if i turboed, if i can give GSR's or civics or accords, or w/e a run for their money!
I wanst expectiing to be beating SRT's or STi's either....i cant even come close to their stock hp outputs...
thanks!
if i do it, im doign it right the first time, im going to buy the IC kit.
and i was looking at someones video of a RRM kit and it took like 12 sec to get to 60! after i saw that, i didnt think it was possible but again its hard to say.
ill probably just do it anyways since its better to invest into a newer car than an old car with a ton of problems....
thanks

You only live once and you are hearing from guys that have had their kits on for YEARS! So...... make a good choice just make sure you are fiscally responsible. Hate to hear guys selling theri mother to get a kit.
ROAD/RACE
NON ic is not the best solution, i own one but i want to IC it asap.
the bottom line is the intake temps are high and I am not comfortable with it. i have an egt gauge and i monitor everthing with a wideband so i am not TOO worried, but on hooot days i tend not to boost. I have a dejon MBC and i turn it down to 1-2 psi. still nice just not too fast. im playing it safe especially since i have over 100K
I LOVE rrm's product and they do stand behind their product for the most part with great service, but the kit is NOT safe IMHPO and there have been several who blow their engine on the kit. (non ic)
it may be due to not checking connections or by using synthetic, but i am still NOT comfortable, and i am at 5psi. You seem novice and i hope you take care to at least get basic monitering (sp)equipment.

To tell you the truth, I believe if you want the power it is worth it, but in the end you will spend even more amounts of money. There is really never enough power. I thought I would be happy @ 400 whp, but I am already building a motor to get 500 whp on pump with alky. There are alot of sacrafices you have to make with any turbo car, and before you do anything, just read about all the problems cars have. I had a turbo civic before this and literally it was a pain in the *** to keep. You think your gonna need $3000, but really @ the end of 1 year, you will probably hit $5000+. Your tires will go down faster, brakes, better oil, fuel, etc.
well said! if i wanted to buy a faster, more expensive car, i would have. But then id probably be broke, since insurance rates are ridiclous where i live and especially for someone my age, even though ive got a clean dirivng record.

Also, the word "fast" is hard to define here. I really don't mod in order to compare myself to other cars. That's foolish because someone is always faster. I want my OZ to show vast improvements from stock. This way, I can always think to myself "wow, my car used to suck, but now I'm very happy with it. I also learned tons along the way and had a great time." I would rather go through this process than say, "Wow, I just bought a really fast porsche. It's cool I guess, but I don't know how it works, and about 1,000 other people did the exact same thing as me."
I believe it it worth it. But like Ambystom01 said, only you can know if it is worth it. But i got my car turboed and all i can say is i love it. The car is quicker and faster, but all that really matter to me is that it is so much quicker than before. Oh by the way, i have an 05 with 18,000 miles.
go big or go home...buy an evo(used) in the end all the money you put in the lancer could easily find its way into a down payment on a used evo, you can find used evos for $20k...craigs list, cars.com, etc. just my opinion, i once owned a OZ lancer way back when, i thought about turbo but even then it would still be SLOW, so i found a used evo w/ 28k miles on for $22k, i bought it after i sold the OZ, i couldnt be happier and ill never part ways w/ me evo, your decision but i think boosting a lancer just isnt worth it in the end
it all down to what you really want......
for me, i enjoy doing things other people might seem silly....
i have been pushing my auto for quite some times
will keep doing it until the car dies on me...^^
