Thinking of turboing - is it really worth it?

I would say no, but then again I have owned Two Evo's, an AWD DSM and before that a Supra, so I am horribly biased in terms of power output. The Oz doesn't have a smidgen of High performance attitude. I think a 1995 D16 Civic would be a better platform. Look for an old DSM, so many parts and SO god damn cheap to build. Keep the OZ as a put-put daily driver.

If you have the time/skill to assemble a 'junkyard turbo' the bang for the buck can be off the chart...

The T28 IC Kit ought to put you up there with the SRTs. Seems like most in this thread have gone for the T25 kit. I won't mind waiting less than $1000 more for the extra 30+ hp and I plan on doing so.

You won't quite be at the level of an SRT-4 but you'll be within reach with a few more mods.

Lancers arent the best car out there but,, it is a great car!! it is pretty reliable and good mileage plus cheap insurance!! even if your engine blows, don't worry you can find one easily for 300+ dollars!!! Boost lancer arent going to be the fastest, but may able to keep up with stock evo or RSX Type-s or WRX. I am planning to turbo my car very soon!!! right now its just too busy with school and work but very very soon it will be done!!!

ya its true. even a turbo lancer is not the fastest thing out their but it sure is unique. i mean how many turbo lancers do you see in your area compared to a turbo civic. anyone can easily turbo a civic and be like the rest. even someones grandma's grandma can easily turbo a civic. all honda parts are interchangeable they all bolt up like legos.

Where I live any turboed car is rare. I wouldn't go about bashing hondas, it's not like what we're doing is that groundbreaking.

The new generation of Lancer's are pretty nice. I just picked one up a few weeks ago.

But looking at the Engine compartment, the only thing i don't like is that fact that IF we did wanted to go Turbo, it'll be on the back side of the engine towards the firewall. I would look like a Suby .... Only thing I really didn't like.

Yeah there are plenty of times when I thought about trading my car in for a honda. Ever hear an S2000 with ITBs? It sounds like sex on wheels (and room for two, zing).

I know that everyone loves the look of the Lancer and wants the power out of it but in all honesty its better to buy an older (cheaper) car and boost or build that. Cheaper, more aftermarket parts, and when you push it and it blows its not like you just pissed 10k down the drain.

That is about the funniest thing I've ever read here on Evom. But seriously, some people don't want a crazy amount of power. I think that a modified Lancer, turbo or otherwise, is a great car. I have most of my money in suspension stuff and it works for me.

We've heard people testifying to the fact that our cars turboed cars are indeed fun to drive. And isn't that what it's about?

OK, all cleaned. Please, if you are going to recommend buying a different car, back it up with facts and more detail than just "The lancer is slow, buy an evo/DSM/240 etc"
