Not me. Does it say what the recall entails? Do they just do a quick fix, or will you be without the car for a while?

The recall is to ensure that the rear door latch remains latched during an accident and the repair is a ~90 minute session which puts a different rear door quarter window sash to all 08 models.

Gotcha. Thanks. I'll have to check in with the dealership if I don't get a letter soon (just in case they missed me).

hmmm. really? I actually was speaking to the Service Dept about the window rubber insert issues and he notified me about the recall.
And you getting a letter?
Thanks for that, I will have them check both issues at the same time.
Damn, that's crazy..

I got one today as well. I was pleased; if you look at the NHTSA's crash test results for the Lancer, they specifically mentioned the rear door coming open as an item of concern (although they still gave the Lancer 4 stars on the side impact test).

The fact that Mitsu made the recall so quickly and addressed the issue is in my mind a good thing.

4 Stars eh? Interesting considering some of the insurance agencies I spoke to said the Lancer scored poorly in collision areas, unless they were just talking out of their ***. I guess I'll be checking with my dealership then.

I bought a 2005 Nissan XTerra, and not a week after I purchased a flaw was found in the factory hitch system. One week later they had a fix and a recall out. That's what I call service. Same with Mitsubishi on this door thing.

Now if only GM would realize this.

Here's the NHTSA link: http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ncap/cars/4141.html

IIHS also gave the Lancer good ratings on the frontal offset test
http://www.iihs.org/ratings/rating.aspx?id=811
They have not done the side impact test yet for 08s, the 2002-06s got poor marks on the side impact but that was without side impact airbags - which come standard on the 08s.

I should add - GEICO's quote for the 08 GTS came in cheaper than the Mazda 3 I was comparing it with, and that INCLUDED the traction control & electronic stability control on the Mazda 3. So GEICO seems to like the Lancers.
