IIHS also gave the Lancer good ratings on the frontal offset test

They have not done the side impact test yet for 08s, the 2002-06s got poor marks on the side impact but that was without side impact airbags - which come standard on the 08s.

I should add - GEICO's quote for the 08 GTS came in cheaper than the Mazda 3 I was comparing it with, and that INCLUDED the traction control & electronic stability control on the Mazda 3. So GEICO seems to like the Lancers.
Wow! This is crazy. I got a lower monthly quote for the Mazda 3 by about $50 or so dollars. I have noticed that I was paying a lot less for the EVO a month than I am for the '08 now, I suppose this COULD be because insurance companies still lack the necessary data to give their customers are more "accurate" quote? When I spoke to Geico and Esurance they both told me that the GTS was currently being compared to the '06 EVO, which upset me a great deal because I couldn't possibly believe that whomever I was speaking to was giving me a straight answer.

BTW, I just took my car into the dealership today for the recall work. Took them a while to get it finished but it was better to be safe than sorry.

I think in Geico's case it greatly depends on who you talk to, or if you do it online, how the data in entered into the website. The first time I tried it online, the quote came back something ridiculous on the Lancer. So I called and asked; sure enough they were thinking it was an Evo or a Ralliart. Second time I tried it came back much better. When I finally bought the car, I made sure to highlight all the safety details (the side airbags, etc...) and the anti-theft protection on the GTS, all of which contributed to the lower price.

Still no letter. Might have to take matters into my own hands and call them. I want to get this done before I modify the car in any way.

Mine's done. Took about 2 hours - but then again, that's partly because I left it. Otherwise they said they could do it in 45 minutes. Also put the license plates on.

I dont think it is a recall, more a techincal bulletin. Recalls are issued by the government and is mandatory, techincal bulletins are optional.

I think it was something they wanted to add in. But it was recalled so that the cars can get it installed. From what i saw it was a latch on the back window sash.
The tech showed me some pictures on the work they were goin to do.

If AllData would ever update to the 2008 models, I'd find out...

In any case, still haven't heard from .

recalls/campaigns yes are mandatory.. but they are issued by the car company not the gov. the Gov however can FORCE the recall (aka knuckles falling out of durango's ) ...

technical bullitens are only performed to fix a complaint

for the Canucks... just sit tight.. unfortunately it seems the cnd counterparts of the auto companies always get to us LAST (from recalls to ecu tuning.. it's not uncommon for me to have to scan a vehicle a year behind to get proper info)
