Brand new... sometimes they use that as a broad term. I'd check carfax or the registration date to see when it was 1st titled.

 

This is because you have the ES Special Edition, denoted that because of the special chrome grill/chrome package (aka headlights), and a nicer interior. This was introduced late 2006 as a special package, most people don't get it because its merely a few cosmetic differences. As far as I'm aware, that is the only model past 04+ that has the chrome headlight. Might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure. however I think you can request either one at the dealership.

All that being said, OP there is nothing wrong with your car, don't bother with Carfax unless you really need to know if its new. Otherwise save your money.

 

I don't really see why its a special edition. My ES has the same front as the ES in the pic above.

 

There is no ES Special Edition, as far as I know. There was a different trim, denoted as SE, but it's not the same as the ES. The 06 trims were as follows: ES, SE, OZ, RA.

 

Here in Canada, there's no such thing as a SE trim... every ES here have chrome housing headlights, while OZs and Ralliarts have black one... I'm almost 100% positive that this is also the case in US!

 

Ok, that may be true that its not actually an ES, but since the ES, SE, and OZ are all the same car with different trim packages, thats all I was trying to say. I'm upset, Mitsubishi updated their Canadian site and it no longer lists the -06 lancers. Therefore I can't link to the packages, was almost positive I had seen all those available models.

 

Yea, the ES, SE, and OZ all have the same power...it's pretty much the exact same car with different options. The RA is really the only different one from the bunch xD And I'm coming to find out that Mitsu decided to change a lot of things for 06, so I dont get to follow standard procedure all the time for my mods xD.

All of the OZ's models 04+ has Blackhead lights. Im not surpise i that the 06 are and different...

I wish I had the chrome version. I thought it look better on a black OZ.....

 

I think they are just random. Mine did come with the chrome lights, but I bought black oem headlights cause i like them better.
