Entirely possible, just get the bushings from Kartboy.

Yup, that is my plan. Also when I had my console apart I noticed how much the shifter base moves around with these rubber bushings. I will also probably replace those and get this short shifter.

Just installed the Kartboy shifter-link bushings and I love em. They're a must have I thought they'd just tighten up the shifter a bit, but they actually make shifting much smoother. The shifter goes in and out of gears much easier, which is a big plus for me since I'm not using a counterweight knob. I def recommend them.

A BIG +1 to that.

Just installed mine right when I got them today(got both the linkage and base bushings) and WOW. My shifting is more precise and a lot tighter. Although the small bushing under the hood was still loose so I had to put a spacer on top of the retaining ring. Just to make sure, we werent supposed to re-use any of the metal center parts were we?

right, all you reuse are the washers and pins

Also, extremely easy install. It took about 10 minutes. I feel like I should have greased the bushings before I installed them but I didn't have any around, but I'm not too worried

you're supposed to reuse the metal piece of the bushings when replacing it with the new energy ones right?

the bushings come as two pieces... is the larger one on top or on the bottom?..

I don't know if you are talking about the Kartboy ones but thats one ones I have and all I had to reuse was the metal retaining washer and the clip. Mine also came in two pieces. Just pull out the old ones and it will become obvious which one goes where.

just open your hood and start foolin around. It becomes very obvious what goes where as soon as you get the old bushings out

question: did anybody use grease when installing the linkage bushings?

most people that i have heard talking about it didnt. i didnt and so far its been fine. im sure it would have made it go by a lot smoother.

i was wondering how tight the base bushings were supposed to be. I got them down pretty tight but what worries me is that they kinda bow in the middle like they are squished. should i loosen them or are they good?

Sorry for the double post but I decided to post some pointers that I figured out that made the install easy. Some of these may be obvious but bear with me since I'm only a noob...lol. First of all when you are taking off the center console, the front shifter surround part, instead of lifting it slightly and going underneath to pop out the bulbs and plugs for the 12V plug-in you can just unplug this one harness and keep everything plugged in. I seem to have lost the picture of it but its located between the 2 screws you have to take out to get it off. Second of all when you are trying to take out the right front screw that holds the base you can pop the clip out of the little bushing on the shifter and move it to the side(I have a pic just to show what I'm talking about).

As far as the under hood bushings go, I took off my intake to get better access at them and that took some needle nose pliers but its pretty self explanatory.

Here is a pic I took comparing the old ones to the new ones just for the hell of it.
