Hope you have a big wallet for that job! Probably easier to sell the Lancer and buy the Evo when it arrives!

People have talked about this elsewhere on the forums. It's a very difficult and expensive conversion.

ARD Performance has the 4g63 though. Last engine under JDM Enginges (appropriately enough).

That 4G63 engine shown at that site won't fit into the Lancer Engine bay easily. That's the EVO I-III 4G63, which is on the opposite side of the Lancer engine and you'll have to relocate almost everything in you engine bay in order to fit this.

An EVO VII engine and tranny would be easily close to $10K, do you really want that? That's for parts ONLY...think about the labor and no one really have the expertise on this engine except a few shops...

Just turbo your OZ. Cheaper and quicker mod! You would probably be happy!

How many people have pondered throwing in the 4G63 into the US Lancer not even realizing how much time, money, and effort it'd cost them. Phew...waiting for the Evo (if you've got the means) or getting a turbocharger are your best bets for some speed. Unless of course you go the all-motor route.

haha, you guys stress...the mottor alone is only 1300 with transmission but you need a new wire loom and computer. all in all probably like 2300 to full swap out and install....only problem is smog.....by the way this swap is way more power to the wheels than turbo and probably better since turbos can potentially wear out the engine. Also, i met a guy that owns a motor shop and he himself owns the lancer OZ rally, he told me it will fit and as soon as he is done swapping it he will update the moutning brackets for the lancer.

Motor

whats wrong with the Eclipes motor? Everyone seems to forget that the Ecplipes motor is very simular to the evo and you can fid it front wheel drive. But if some one wants to spend the money I can get any evo part. Its just not at all cheap...

RMR, is the engine code for the eclipse the 4G63 or 4G63t? i would get that motor but the evo motor is more hp to the wheels and im sure theres more engine modifications to get the hp up more. But if you can shed some light on the eclipse motor swap, it would save me some time and money.

1G/2G FWD DSM 4G63 is similar ONLY to the EVO I-III 4G63, which share the same body/chassis with the 93-96 US Mirage. For 97+ Mirage and new Lancer, the engine is relocated from the driverside of the engine bay to the passenger side while the tranny moved as well. Therefore, if you will have to relocated everything if you're going to fit a DSM 4G63 into a 97+ Mirage or new Lancer. In addition, I don't think the GS-T tranny will fit the CN9A+ 4G63....

ralliart, IF you can located a good quality CN9A+ 4G63 with tranny at that price, more power to you...however, you will need more than just that engine, tranny, ECU and wiring harness to "complete" the swap.

You will need to upgrade the fuel system just to keep the motor from running lean and cause detonation. Are you going for FWD? OR keep the EVO tranny and do a AWD conversion? Either case, you will need new axles. With more power, you will have to get bigger brakes and with heavier engine and the vehicle balance is altered, you will have to use EVO's suspension as well....

by the way this swap is way more power to the wheels than turbo and probably better since turbos can potentially wear out the engine.
What exactly are you trying to say here? If you're getting the EVO engine, you have a strengthen bottom end to start with, why will the turbo "wear out" the engine if the turbo charger comes with the engine?

Just wanna keep the discussion going

If you do, however, go for the 4g63, make sure it is either a JDM or a 2nd gen. The fourth gen has a problem called crank walk, and yeah, you don't want that. Just watch what you do and make sure you can do it. Like to hear the results if you do though.

Race.

Can anyone figure out how to contact RPW, they sell the 4g63 so they may know what it would take to convert to US Lancer.
