US dealerships sell out lancer GTS
Yeah, but some of the things you might want to change are hardwired. I couldn't buy an ES and then go "hey, can I get the paddle shifters aftermarket?"
The way things like DRL and TPMS are hardwired into the ECU, I'm really happy I got the GTS model. It's just safer to get the nice stuff you want to start off.
Hell, I couldn't even change the stereo HU in my car without having a gaping hole...

Not sure what the DRL and the TPMS are but one thing I would not do this time if I bought a new lancer is fall for the more expensive package again like the OZ over the ES of old.
Yes the OZ package did look better but 90% of people ended up changing their rims, etc.
Just from a speed perspective, if you are going to modify might as well not have all the bells and whistles. That's the reason why the Evolution RS comes from factory without all the creature comforts.

When I got my 7500 mile service done last weekend, South Coast Mitsu had 7 Lancers in a row. They all had the lip kit and the spoiler. They had sale tages on them and were listed at 19,xxx. Must have been the ES with some extra parts
Well from a my perspective, the paddle shifters don't appeal to me.

- Paddle shifters appealed to me.
- DRL (daytime running lights) & TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system)
- Still had the O.Z. rims on it when I sold it. Liked the body kit. Only part of the O.Z. package I changed was the suspension (since I kinda had an unholy amount of suspension upgrades on that car, that's a given).
- I know what you mean about the RS. But remember that we're not all building racecars.
Last thing then,
It's not that I don't like the GTS because by far it is the best looking lancer, but saying from the modding perspective no sense in adding in options you will only end up changing out.
I too sold my OZ with the original rims. My girlfriend now fiance always used to remind me that I bought the OZ because of the upgrade package.
I'm just happy Mitsu has a hit in some market. Its about time they brought what the masses wanted.
We just got our first 2008 lancers here in August. None with any kind of GTS package.

I'd like lighter wheels (23 lbs each for the stock GTS) and some springs, rear swaybar and strut braces.
I'll probably do nothing because I have to make those damn car payments.
Things that make it a GTS go way beyond that. I'm happy with the stock body kit, I like the CVT with paddles. The included Sun & Sound package and foglights are good. Et cetera.
despite how i have already changed parts i have 18 inch rims and tires for my winter tires where an es driver has 16s?? If i buy a body kit i can put my stock gts parts back on and still have just as nice of a car in the winter and a even better car in the summer
y'all are lucky to have them at all. Our mitsubishi dealership has never even had one in the showroom I don't know wtf their problem is. They still have a ****load of 04-06 model lancers out there though.
